NextGen Pastor

Purpose: The NextGen Pastor helps Westwoods love, lead and disciple Birth through College students in a way that reflects the vision and strategy of Westwoods by recruiting, equipping, and building healthy leaders, building a relational culture, and helping them take meaningful steps toward Jesus.

Disciple Making

• Motivated primarily by the lives changed by Jesus

• Connects, recruits, equips, and inspires a diverse group of volunteers to engage the next generation at Westwoods as well as parents

• Always asking, “Who can I recruit and train to do this job?”

• Wants and seeks feedback for themselves and provides that to others in a positive way

Skills

• Must have a clear understanding of the vision, mission and values and strategy of Westwoods and the specific role the next generation can and does play in it

• Passion for ministry to Kids and Students (Birth-College)

• Must be able to:

  • Function as a recruiter, trainer, and leader of leaders

  • Ensure all team members are being cared for, encouraged, and mentored adequately

  • Understand the importance of an ability to develop apprentices

Responsibilities

·      Operate as the main Pastor of Student Ministry

·      To develop a strong team of leaders to carry the weight of student and young adult ministry

·      Create culture of authenticity and value where students feel safe, real, open to share

• Grow the number of students and families who are being reached and cared for on a Monday evening and beyond including special events

·      Oversight of Kids Ministry in conjunction with our part-time Pastor of Kids Ministry and volunteer leaders

·      To have a significant impact on the next generation for Christ

• Communicate clearly with the next generation and their parents

• Create environments for people to grow together as a team outside of the church

Relationships

·      Oversight of the Pastor of Kids Ministry and volunteer leaders in other areas

·      Reports to Lead Pastor

·      Supported by Elders

·      Works closely with the Pastoral Staff, Elders, and all ministry team leaders

Success

·      See leaders recruited, trained and motivated to lead and care for others

·      See that Westwood’s kids enter and grow deeper in their relationship with Jesus

·      See lives being transformed into the image of Christ as more of our next generation and their families love and follow Christ, love and serve others and love and reach the lost

• Practices daily disciplines of prayer, quietness, and study of God’s Word

• Cultivates an intimate relationship with Jesus that is contagious

Westwoods Community Church exists to transform our city with the love of Jesus one friend at time.
