The Director will plan, implement, and evaluate all aspects of Financial Aid and serve as the administrator of all Title IV student assistance, state, institutional and private funds to include Veterans Assistance and Vocational Rehabilitation Programs. The Director will ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations as relates to student financial aid and manage the maintenance, configuration, and updates of SIS System's Financial Aid Module and Student Portal. SUM is seeking a hands on Director who would be required to assist in the day to day processing of financial aid as well as managing and overseeing all Departmental functions and responsibilities. 


  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Financial Aid office.
  • Develop, implement and revise Financial Aid policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal and state laws, regulations and college.
  • Manage and handle the awarding and processing of financial aid for continuing and new students
  • Manage and oversee the Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) and Return of Title IV Funds processes.
  • Manage and oversee the institution's Federal Work-study Program as well as all CampusBase Federal Aid and FISAP
  • Mange and oversee coordination of Pell and Direct Student Loan processing between Department of Ed, students and the institution. This includes monthly reconciliation with the FSA COD and SUM CampusVue systems
  • Oversee Title IV refunds and repayments, including U.S. Department of Education and National Student Loan Data System notifications/reporting with the Registrar's Office
  • Manage and oversee institution's Veteran's Administration and Vocational Rehabilitation Programs
  • Work with Business Office to ensure accurate and timely exchange of information and awards between COD, G-5, the general ledger and FAM disbursed funds and ensure the timely distribution of student refunds
  • Manage and oversee the configurations, updates, and maintenance of the Financial Aid Student Portal
  • Manage, oversee, and assist in the maintenance, update, and configuration of SIS System CampusVue/CampusNexus
  • Coordinate with school's registrar to ensure the maintenance and timely submission of Enrollment Reporting through NSLDS
  • Manage and maintain institution financial aid web site
  • Oversee communications and management of advisors located at the additional remote locations through the United States as it pertains to the financial aid for students at these locations.
  • Develop all publications (website, college catalog, and other media) relating to financial aid.
  • Supervise and lead financial aid support staff to ensure excellent customer service is delivered to every customer (current/prospective students, college faculty/staff, community, etc.).
  • Collaborate with Enrollment Management team and other departments to plan, develop and execute enrollment/retention programs.
  • Maintain accurate and complete financial aid records
  • Submit required reports to state and federal agencies
  • Assist with developing and monitoring departmental budget
  • Provide information to prospective and enrolled students and cohort advisors
  • Review and input data from students' files for all awards
  • Assist with the selection, training and evaluation of office personnel
  • Assist the administration in carrying out the mission of the college
  • Conduct the evaluations and hiring of financial aid office staff.


  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline (business, counseling)
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Experience with CampusVue, EDConnect, COD, CPS, NSLDS and other FSA systems necessary
  • Five or more years of experience within a financial aid office
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational, computer and problem-solving skills required
  • Strong knowledge of state and federal financial aid requirements
  • Cross training in Registrar and Student accounts preferred
  • Knowledge of SIS System configurations and conversions a PLUS
