Job Title:                    IT Support Technician

Reports to:                Information Technology Supervisor


Job Summary


An IT member who is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining computer systems and hardware such as PCs, wireless handheld devices, printers and other end user devices for staff and faculty. The technician will also be participating in learning new technologies and skills as well as training others.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Respond to helpdesk requests, troubleshoot reported problems and take necessary steps to resolve those problems
  • Build and configure PCs and laptops as well as install software
  • Provide end-user technical support and desk-side assistance. Supported platforms include but are not limited to Windows 7, 8, Microsoft Office, PC Computers, iMac Computers, Network Printers, iPhones, iPads, Chrome books and other mobile devices
  • Run and terminate infrastructure cabling
  • Train and orient staff and faculty on use of hardware and software
  • Maintain professional communication and ensure end-user satisfaction
  • All other duties as required to ensure school goals are met
  • Work on weekends and beyond normal business hours when required

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in computer science, information technology, or experience in a similar field
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong desire to learn
  • Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Must have strong documentation skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Independent, self-starting attitude
  • Professional Certifications (A+, Network+, MCSE, CCNA) is a plus
  • Prior experience with Google Apps is a plus
  • Hands on experience with PC/MAC operations
  • Previous experience working in a school environment, preferred
  • Presentation and training skills is a plus
  • Minimum one year experience with the setup, maintenance and problem diagnosis and resolution for desktop/mobile computer systems in a networked environment
  • Hands on experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, Windows Server 2003/2008 and server hardware
  • Familiarity with Cisco network infrastructure is a plus
  • Familiarity with a Student Information System (SIS) is a plus

Work Conditions

  • Operating a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools and other computer components
