Director of Children's Ministries - 30 Hours

Kingdom Purpose

Promote the Kingdom of God in leading Children’s Ministries staff and volunteers to further the Mission and Vision of Faith Community UMC.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities


Overall Leadership of Children’s Ministries

Vision and plan new ways to grow Children’s Ministries to strengthen our Faith Community in worship, group life and service.

Recruit and train children’s ministry volunteers.

Prepare and Oversee Children’s Ministry budget and business issues.

Provide clear, effective, and timely communication of all children’s ministry information.

Oversee the Children’s Music Program

Supervise Children’s Ministries Staff.

Supervise Preschool Director

Lead monthly, annual and seasonal events/programming, including but not limited to VBS, Upward, Children’s Musical, Father/Daughter Dance, Third Grad Bible programs.

Development and maintenance of Sunday morning curriculum, registration and database


Additional Responsibilities

Active Participant of staff teams.

Be available to children and families as needed.

Integrate the children’s education program within the total ministry of FCUMC.

Additional relevant responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Pastor.




Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred or proven experience in Children’s Ministries

Track record of successful and effective interpersonal relationships required

Demonstrated excellence in leading others required

Event planning experience                            


Excellent team-based leadership abilities, contributing to a “strengths-based” environment          

Exceptional management skills, including the ability to set and maintain boundaries

Able to train or to organize training for volunteers and staff to participate in ministry.

Outstanding work ethic; self-starter

Exceptional communication and organizational skills

Passionate and relevant teacher who effectively communicates spiritual concepts to children

Professional behavior and communication in a team-based staff environment

Great relational skills with both children and adults

Humble spirit that continually desires to learn and improve

If married, strong family commitment and emphasis

Emotional and spiritual maturity

Proficient computer skills


Physical Requirements
