Title: Marketing and Communications Manager

Classification:  Full Time, Salaried

Location: Negotiable, Midwest Area

Reports to: Executive Vice President of the Ohio Valley Region

Key Relationships: Director of the Great Lakes Region, Development Director, Director of People and Organizational Development, Registration Manager, Market Directors, and Designvox 


Position Summary:

The Marketing and Communications Manager works collaboratively with SpringHill’s leadership team, and with designated internal personnel and external consultants, to develop, communicate and implement a comprehensive marketing plan that promotes SpringHill Camps and stimulates growth in overnight, day camps, group retreats, facility rentals, retail sales, and other Camp programs. This position manages communications of SpringHill’s brand, ensuring consistency in tone and presentation, including oversight of: web sites, advertising, signage, social media, publication activities, and other forms of communication. 


Principle Duties and Job Functions:

  • Develop and direct a successful, well integrated marketing plan and tactics, projecting camp growth five (5) years out
  • Provide direction, consultation and support for SpringHill internal staff and outside consulting firms with responsibilities for program registration, sales, promotions, guest and public relations, etc. 
  • Research and quantify camper trends and develop tatics  to enhance and grow camp participants
  • Monitor and report the effectiveness of the annual marketing plan and the marketing budget
  • Report monthly the results of marketing activities, strategies and results
  • Collaborate with SpringHill’s advancement and human resources departments regarding marketing initiatives in support of donor development and staff recruitment
  • Oversee key communications, including social media strategies, website designs, newsletters, public  releases, branding, customer relations, advertising efforts and other forms of communication as needed
  • Provide sales support materials
  • Test marketing tactics to increase awareness and erollment while protecting the branding of the SHX
  • Travel in areas where SpringHill operates programs and into new areas where SpringHill has potential to expand its constituency and reach, serving as a promoter, networker and representative


Experience and Qualifications Summary:
The Marketing and Communications Manager will have a proven track record of implementation; including planning, oversight, delegation, and direct hand-activities to assure work gets done.  A growing ministry, SpringHill requires a leader who is able to execute tactical plans.  The candidate must have a firm grasp of ministry and business principles, be a self-starter and a natural leader, and have the experience, skills and maturity to work effectively within the context of a team environment.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Commitment to the mission and ministry philosophy of SpringHill Camps
  • 3 years of effective marketing experience, with prior ministry experience preferred
  • A Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or a related field required
  • Experience and skills with data analysis, social media, e-marketing, direct mail, retention and referral campaigns is essential
  • Skilled and able to work effectively within a team and collaborative work environment
  • Must be capable of coordinating multiple projects, while organizing and keeping track of details
  • Must be capable of tactical planning and implementation within a marketing promotions framework
  • Excellent and well developed oral and written communication skills

  • Ability and willingness to travel within geographic regions served by SpringHill Camps
