Shares a Christ-like servant leadership spirit while working with the AHG Staff, volunteers and general public. Develops new programs (patch and badge programs, etc) and aids to assist the volunteer Unit Leader in delivering the AHG program to girl members. Makes adaptations to existing programs (including publications) when necessary. Seeks the consult of professional and volunteer committees. Monitors efficacy and enjoyment of program elements. Manages and assesses adult training programs. Develops relationships with likeminded youth agencies and resources to provide enhancement to the AHG program. Seeks to instill attributes of founding principles (oath, creed, mission and vision) in all program developments. Ensures quality of program to each girl served by the American Heritage Girls. Oversees the AHG H.U.G.S. Service Program. Reports to the COO.
Specific Duties including, but not limited to:
A. Provides management and leadership for the Program Department Staff and workflow.
B. Plans, directs, and controls the strategic and daily functions of Program Department staff and workflow.
C. Develops and implements the department plan of work through timely delegation and follow through with Program Department Staff.
D. Develops and maintains department and inter-department processes and procedures; leads cross-functional process mapping.
E. Responsible for assigning specific projects and resource development to departmental staff as needed.
F. Leads regular department meetings for completion of plan of work, communication and project development.
G. Conducts monthly 1:1 meetings with each department member to ensure accountability and results. Provides coaching and mentoring to department staff.
H. Participates in monthly manager meetings and committees as needed.
I. Working with Volunteer Committees.
II. Program Development
A. Oversee all new and existing program initiatives (from strategic plan).
B. Develop roll-out plan for all new initiatives
C. Develop Resources to aid in program implementation
1. Produce Quarterly Leader Resource Guide
2. Work with Support, IT and Exec Assistant to maintain website
a. Create new tools and resource for Website, as needed.
III. Program Evaluation
A. Work with Support Department to create and distribute evaluation tools
B. Review data to determine areas of need, change, etc., and present findings and recommendations.
IV. Program Revision
A. Revise program materials as deemed necessary
B. Oversee revisions of badges
C. Oversee revisions of Girl, Unit Leader and Coordinator Handbooks as necessary.
V. Training Development
A. Work with Support Department in identifying training needs
B. Develop training modules as needed
C. Evaluate existing training programs (BSA and others) to determine appropriateness for AHG use
VI. Stars and Stripes Award
A. Oversee Stars & Stripes Advisory Reps
1. Act as Advisory Rep as necessary, providing approvals, advice, etc. to Candidates
B. Develop resources and tools for girls and adults to aid in the Stars & Stripes Process
C. Work to bring media attention to S&S recipients and their accomplishments.
D. Oversee volunteers to gain commendation letters, scholarship opportunities and overall visibility of the Award.
A. Work with Membership on the content of marketing materials.
B. Assist in keeping AHG brand consistent through publication content.
C. Assist with content and publication of Girl and Adult Handbooks.
A. Seek out partnerships (BSA, etc.) with organizations and vendors that offer opportunities and/or resources which complement the AHG program.
B. Provide badge requirements to appropriate organizations wishing to offer badge earning opportunities to girls.
C. Work with Ambassadors to the Boy Scout Councils (ABC, where applicable) to offer program opportunities, trainings while communicating with Support Services Department.
D. Works with BSA Councils (when Ambassadors of the Boy Scout Councils are not present) to offer program opportunity to AHG members.
IX. Communicate with National Staff and Volunteers
A. Develop the department’s Annual Plan of Work and Budget.
B. Participate in monthly manager and staff meetings.
C. Participate in any or all other meetings requested Work with staff and/or volunteer committees in creation/revision of programming
D. Work with staff and/or volunteer committees in creation/revision of programming.
E. Consultative role with managers and PR Specialist.
A. Passion for serving God in the AHG ministry.
B. Agreement with the AHG Statement of Faith.
C. Knowledge of the AHG program, girl development and outdoor skills a plus.
D. Desire to make a difference.
E. Self starter.
F. Professional demeanor in dress, behavior, attitude and loyalty to AHG.
G. Enjoyment of fast paced, quick changing environment.
H. Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Outlook.
I. Excellent telephone, public relations, reasoning, written and verbal skills required.
J. Proficient in time management and organization, with attention to detail.
K. Strong desire to help others succeed.
L. A four-year college degree (or equivalency in experience - 5 years+
M. A bias for action and accountability; results-driven.
N. Highly organized, team-minded, multitasking individual is required.
O. Strategic mindset.
P. Excellent telephone, public relations, reasoning, written and verbal skills required.
Q. Experience in AHG/BSA preferred.
R. Background in child development/education a plus.
