Job Description:
The Executive Vice President is responsible for the leadership, management, and implementation of a comprehensive program of philanthropy that will include prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. Toward that end, this individual will manage a team of development professionals to:

• Identify, cultivate, and strengthen relationships with donors and prospective donors
• Communicate and build support for the organization’s Mission among these and other targeted constituencies
• Facilitate opportunities for partnerships to develop in support of specific projects and programs
• Cultivate relationships with targeted constituencies that lead to long-term partnerships resulting in philanthropic support of WMI’s goals, objectives, and Mission

The successful candidate will work with the Water Missions International Operational Team, Board of Directors, and Development Team to:
• Develop, implement, and evaluate annual operating and strategic plans for projects requiring philanthropic investment and partnership
• Maintain responsibility for prospect identification, cultivation and solicitation strategies, and appropriate stewardship programs for annual, capital, deferred, and special event gifts
• Maintain responsibility for the evaluation of all fundraising programs with the ability to make course changes as required to enhance and ensure fundraising success
• Develop procedures to assure proper donor recognition, acknowledgements, and record keeping
• Maintain budget control procedures

• Communicate in a clear and compelling manner the Mission and Vision of Water Missions International to targeted constituents and audiences, as well as articulate the financial challenges in achieving the organization’s goals and objectives
• Supervise production of all printed materials and publications that relate to philanthropy

Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s Degree is desirable)
• Seven to ten years of direct fundraising experience
• Proven successful experience in philanthropy

• Ability to plan, implement, and complete a variety of projects simultaneously
• Ability to set and meet challenging fundraising goals
• Ability to motivate the Development Team and the Board of Directors
• Ability to organize his or her work and maintain a well functioning program
• Ability to win the confidence of stakeholders important to the Water Missions International Mission and Vision
• An endless capacity for work with sufficient physical and emotional energy to work long hours
• A self-starter who can initiate creative thinking and has strong attention to details and follow-through
• Enthusiasm for the job and a zestful approach that conveys optimism and commitment
• Ability to set realistic and challenging objectives for philanthropy and partnerships
