What It Is:
A full time position responsible for building and growing an effective annual giving program through donor cultivation, direct mail and data analysis. The manager will administer and oversee multiple direct mail projects, manage portfolio of donors giving between $500 and $5,000, statistical reporting and analysis, mailing list management, and donor/prospect research and relationship management. Create and execute an approved annual fund development plan, including direct mail, donor cultivation and recognition program, utilizing the resources of the VP of Advancement, other Jill's House (JH) staff, volunteers and any contracted vendors, and consultants. Assure clear communication and approval of all broad based appeals with the Director of Finance. Oversee thank you/receipts and donor recognition program to include all campaigns and solicitation programs for JH. Maintain up-to-date cultivation activity and contact information within the JH database for all assigned prospects and donors. Create and implement a donor recognition program. Coordinate the marketing efforts related to solicitations and donor events. Assist the VP of Advancement and other program and marketing staff with promoting Jill’s House to the communities it serves.
Description of Duties:
Principal responsibilities include:
1.Solicit donors and donor prospects at all levels to raise the needed revenue for both the JH capital budget and the JH operating budget, with a focus on direct mail solicitation. Analyze, manage and cultivate portfolio of existing $500-$5,000 donors.
2.Create and execute a fund development plan for Jill’s House to include all aspects of direct mail fund raising: acquisition, donor retention, and recognition; including managing the development coordinator, appropriate staff to execute the direct mail plan, contract vendors and consultants.
3.Manage the thank you/receipt system to assure all donors are properly receipted for their gifts with thank you letters.
4.Work with the VP of Advancement to manage the revenue forecast for JH to assure adequate revenue targets to meet and/or exceed the revenue needs for both the capital and operating budgets.
5.Work with JH VP of Advancement and JH Marketing Manager to assure effective flow of communication of funding needs, events, and solicitation opportunities.
1.Bachelor's degree required and three to five years of experience in fundraising and direct mail. Relevant bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of coursework and experience.
2.Working knowledge of Blackbaud's Raiser's Edge for Windows or similar donor database; aptitude for the management and effective use of information systems in support of a development program.
3.Must possess knowledge of fundraising principles and practices.
4.Excellent organization skills with an ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and a variety of demands.
5.Commitment to maintain confidentiality and a high degree of accuracy in donor records.
6.Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and promote a positive working environment, spirit of cooperation and positive reactions to change and conflict resolution; demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and relate well to parents, volunteers and staff.
7.Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, both written and oral which transcend diverse audiences.
8.Demonstrated motivational and problem solving capabilities with a high degree of integrity, ethics, and dedication to the mission of Jill’s House.
9.Must be able to work a limited irregular schedule, evenings or Saturday as needed, additional hours during peak times or as required.
