Job Description:
The Sr. Audio Engineer position exists to oversee one or more of the following areas: the audio production and engineering work done for various audio products created for Family Talk; the management of historical audio content; and the management of the Family Talk Audio network and technical assistance needed for the users.

Researches, makes recommendations, operates and maintains all audio equipment
Assigns recording sessions and serves as primary engineer for all audio recordings, including both studio, ISDN, and occasional off-site recordings
Responsible for the technical recording and the quality of all Family Talk audio
Manages the audio network for all Family Talk audio network users
Utilizes advanced production skills as assigned to perform rough/time/final editing of broadcast projects to predetermined length using Pro Tools Digital Audio Workstation
Creatively adjusts audio to provide the highest quality product
Provides technical support for all digital editing system users and Family Talk employees who reference the program
Provides expertise during the production editing process
Oversees all pre- and post-production duties for Family Talk audio
Edits and produces creative audio elements, including musical elements
Manages the restoration of Dr. Dobson’s historical audio and video content
Is responsible for the hiring and training of new staff
References essential audio for quality; provides expert audio evaluation, when necessary
Responds to broadcast schedule changes and replacements
Creates the production schedule for the daily broadcast editors

Maintains a good working environment for the daily Editors and Producers in collaboration with the Senior Producer
Oversees the development and creation of a variety of copyrightable works (e.g., print, photography, film, music, visual arts, etc.) for distribution in any and all media and formats (such as television, radio, internet, wireless, DVD, satellite and digital) on a world-wide basis, all of which shall be for the benefit of Family Talk.
May perform voice work in audio and audio/visual works, as needed
Strives for continuous improvement in systems and processes in information reporting
Performs application testing as needed
Performs other duties as assigned

Supervises staff to include Audio Production Specialists and Editors, Interns and Contract Workers

Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ; maintains a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of the ministry; adheres to the Standard of Moral Conduct and Statement of Faith; Demonstrates behaviors aligned with Family Talk’s core values.

Associate’s Degree in Broadcasting, Communications, or equivalent broadcast trade school certification
5 + years experience in a combination of sound engineering, audio editing, and broadcast programming
In-depth knowledge of Family Talk’s mission, philosophy, values, and objectives

Ability to operate sophisticated audio recording/editing equipment
Ability to use personal/professional computer and related software
Ability to handle multiple projects and meet/adhere to strict deadlines, yet maintain the flexibility to adjust to a rapidly changing broadcast schedule
Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written)
Ability to work independently
Strong organizational skills
Attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to deal with stress from deadline pressures
Excellent time management skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Ability to function in a team environment
Ability to use good judgment to make decisions that affect information reported to ministry leadership
