Chief Communications Officer

Responsibilities: Serve as a member of the National Leadership Team bringing communications expertise and perspective as well as spiritual maturity to organizational direction. Supervise the Communications Team responsible for ensuring that corporate and Mission messaging and branding advance our calling and enhance our corporate reputation. Principle audiences are internal (Board, Field Staff, Headquarters, Glen Eyrie Group and as appropriate our International Office/Staff) and external (donors/supporters, lay laborers, the body of Christ, public and media).

The Communications Officer works with both direct and indirect authority, and must pursue- a reputation as a listener, learner, and advisor/consultant to our Missions, Ministries and Business Missions. The CCO must be able to function as full director and implementation leader in certain arenas, as well as coordinator/advisor in others.

Ensure that communication is professional, creative and appropriate to the audience. Understand corporate branding issues while balancing the Navigators’ unique approach as a worldwide partnership. Monitor and measure Navigator communications to optimize our return on investment, while ensuring that strategic messaging and branding are maintained. Guide the application of our crisis management plan and serve as the principle contact for media relations. Continue to develop professional skills and capabilities through a variety of development opportunities. Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in mass communications, journalism or related field required; Master’s degree in communications or other related field preferred. Ten years’ experience in communications and/or business disciplines preferred. Strong and demonstrated ability to lead with both direct and indirect influence. Demonstrated ability to design communication strategy and create clear implementation through all necessary media, including social media and other forms of technology. Proven project leadership and abilities as a supervisor and coach of communications professionals. Spiritual maturity, high emotional intelligence and excellent listening skills. Essential understanding of copyright and trademark laws. Belief in and adherence to the Statement of Faith and Mission of The Navigators.

Salary will be based on experience.
