Our search firm has recently been retained by Agros International to assist in identifying and selecting a President/CEO to lead and manage from its headquarters office in Seattle, Washington. Agros is a growing and dynamic Christian economic and community development organization dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty in rural communities of Central America and Mexico.

Through its “Journey With a Village” programs, Agros builds partnerships between rural villages in developing countries and donor groups consisting of churches, businesses, and individuals that are committed to its support. Our client extends land loans to locals for the purchase of farmland and partners with families in applying sustainable agricultural practices. The organization has helped more than 10,000 people build new lives for themselves by facilitating land ownership and providing technical assistance, training, capital loans, village infrastructure, and volunteer service teams to support the work and vision of community members. Agros’ holistic development strategy includes community organization, land ownership, housing and infrastructure, sustainable economic growth, and community education and training.

Our client seeks a President/CEO who will report to the Chairman of the Board of Directors, and will be responsible for setting the strategic objectives of the organization and providing an ongoing assessment of the current economic climate as it relates to the short- and long-term viability of its goals. Serving as the chief evangelist for Agros, the candidate will strategically build and establish relationships with key individuals to elevate the visibility of the mission. In conjunction with the Director of Development, establish personal fundraising objectives and strategies consistent with goals of the organization. Identify short- and long-term opportunities and strategies for building on best practices in development, fostering strategic alliances, and achieving cost efficiencies.

Requirements for the position include a Bachelor degree and 10 years of experience serving in a senior-level leadership role. The ideal individual will have directed an organization of no less than 25 people and managed at least a $5 million budget. The preferred individual should be familiar with relief and development and will have served with a development organization assisting the poor or the under-served. Spanish proficiency adequate to follow conversation and willingness to acquire fluency is desired. Compensation includes a competitive base salary and benefits normally associated with a social services provider.
