Position Summary

Exercise management responsibility for network and technology aspects of academic and administrative computing and information technology. Responsible for campus-wide data, network, telephone, data center and related services. Assist Information Services Oversight Team (ISOT) in accomplishing corporate goals and objectives. Position is 1.0 FTE.

Essential Functions

Develop and establish documentation of operating policies for technology consistent with Northwest University policies and objectives. Appraise and evaluate the results of overall operations of network technology functions and report this to the Director.

As a member of the Information Services Oversight Team (ISOT), assist in the development, communication of a College-wide strategic plan for information Services.

Work within the ISOT to determine fiscal requirements of department and assist the Director prepare budgetary recommendations. Coordinate with the Director on Information Services purchasing as pertaining to technology.

Supervise networking and telephone staff to ensure network availability, security, and access.

Serve as a technology liaison to internal and external customers, partner organizations and vendors.

Create and maintain documentation of the network systems and network wiring cable plant.

Perform other job related duties as assigned.


BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Business Administration or related field.
Three to five years on-going experience with computer network systems.
Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
Must be able to work effectively as part of a team, communicate effectively within the Information Services department, with other administrative departments, faculty, staff, and students as required.
Ability to design, install, and configure local Area Networks using multiple topologies, connectivity technologies, and various network and client operating systems.
Experience with Northwest University vendor-specific hardware and software (currently Cisco, 3COM, Microsoft Windows 9x, NT, and W2k, Linux, Open VMS, and filtering technologies).
MCSE/Cisco CCNA preferred.
