Begun in 1996, Mars Hill Church is now widely regarded as one of the most innovative churches in the world; in large part because of the way we use technology. As we reach toward the vision of 50k people worshiping Jesus together in the coming years our web development team has a unique opportunity to combine the timeless work of the gospel with the latest trends, tools, and resources from the world of technology and online media. In this role you will be involved in building new Ruby on Rails/PHP projects and features as well as maintaining existing code bases by completing bug fixes and feature requests. You will assist in architecting Mars Hill web software and applications. You will work well with other members of the team, including our creative team, to coordinate idea collaboration, project deliverables and development requirements.

- Absolutely trustworthy with confidential and sensitive information
- Organized and able to enjoy a rapidly changing environment requiring frequent adjustment of roles and duties
- Bachelors of Science in Computer Science a plus

- Experienced with server side web technologies - RoR, MySql, PHP, (memcache, Redis, Solr, Apache & nginx a plus)
- Experienced developing websites using HTML, CSS, Javascript, jQuery, Flash Builder/Flex
- Experienced collaborating on existing codebases using git and/or svn
- Able to find creative solutions to complex problems
- Security minded (aware of XSS, SQL Injection, appropriate use of SSL, session hijacking etc. a plus)
- Familiarity with test driven and Agile development processes
- Able to prioritize multiple projects, tasks and bug fixes with good communication skills
- Experienced in building, maintaining, supporting server environments with dedicated hosting providers

- Implement new features and ideas, writing good test driven code using Ruby on Rails
- Work with a small team of designers and developers
- Assist in Architectural decisions and maintain existing applications and fix bugs
- Raise up a volunteer to assist you in your responsibilities and multiply your fruitfulness

Schedule: Monday – Friday (or Sunday - Thursday) on call as required
Hours: 40+ hours per week
Location: Central Offices | Seattle, WA (Ballard)
Vacation: Two weeks floating vacation plus one week at Christmas
