Community Relations Coordinator
The Rescue Mission Alliance’s, Ventura County Rescue Mission (VCRM) – a men’s drug and alcohol residential recovery program located in Oxnard, California, is seeking a Community Relations Coordinator who will be responsible to work with volunteers and the community at large to develop effective strategies and exciting new partnerships with VCRM. Duties include: Identify, cultivate and develop new relationships with volunteers, including corporations, foundations and churches by communicating the vital work of VCRM and encouraging special event participation. Build bridges into the community providing opportunities for volunteers, including corporations and organizations to partner with VCRM in providing funding, food, shelter, clothing, and other essential items/resources to help fulfill its stated goals. Develop and present compelling business proposals to secure long- term commitments. Meet often with volunteers, donors and sponsors. Contact civic groups, public and private schools throughout the Ventura County asking their participation and support in caring for the needs of the homeless through various “drives”, as well as an opportunity to share the vision of VCRM. Attend public fairs, and Community Events promoting the services and function of the Mission. Build relations and attend meetings, with other social service providers in the County thus increasing our ability to network in providing services to the Homeless.

Donor Development Duties: Assist in developing a Comprehensive Performance Strategy to inform the community, key donors and corporate sponsors about the progress and performance of VCRM. Organize Capital Campaigns and develop strategies to increase general fund. Provide quarterly events for our homeless guests, with the aid of other organizations, request media coverage to raise awareness of the Missions efforts. Assist the Director in hosting monthly Vision Casting meetings for top donors, contacting donors, providing on-site tours, answering questions and requesting ongoing support of Mission’s endeavors.

Qualifications: This is a professional-level position. The ideal candidate will be a servant leader with a love for all people, a solid Bible-based Christian in good standing in a local church. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, 3-5 years related experience, excellent communication skills both written and oral, team player, self starter, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word, strong organizational, supervisory, conflict management and time management skills and the ability to balance a large group of diverse projects simultaneously.
