Couples, individuals and groups come to the retreat to escape their daily routine to be refreshed and reconnected with their spouses, teammates or God. Our goal is to provide a caring safe place for growth and transformation.

WinShape Retreat is located in the middle of a 26,000 acre wildlife preserve on Berry College’s Mountain Campus in Rome, GA.

Scope of Position

The Dining Manager is responsible for hospitality services provided in the final delivery of the dining experience to guests and staff of WinShape Retreat. This includes all meals and breaks served in the dining hall and other designated areas. The Dining Manager is the primary host of guests in the Great Hall and at break locations. This position oversees and takes responsibility for the overall cleanliness and presentation of the Great Hall through coordination with the Guest Services department. This position has direct oversight of the team of food service employees assigned to this function and reports directly to the Retreat Director.

Job Responsibilities:

DEFINES AND EXECUTES the activities required for providing exceptional dining services to guests of the retreat, including but not limited to oversight of all food and beverages served at locations throughout the retreat during meals and scheduled breaks.

SCHEDULES staff in support of these activities.

DEVELOPS AND EXECUTES an on-going training program that ensures high quality and consistent on-time delivery dining services.

MONITORS the operational support of all areas where dining services are provided and breaks are served to ensure that it is adequately stocked and that the equipment is properly maintained, cleaned and serviced.

SEEKS to develop improved and additional creative methods to serve our guests.

ASSISTS with the development and management of the Food and Beverage budget.

ASSISTS with the hiring and training for all Food Beverage Staff.

PARTICIPATES in the service of meals/breaks on a regular basis.

DEMONSTRATES competency with information systems to retrieve information required to plan and direct the delivery of hospitality needs in all major areas as described above.

MONITORS and REPORTS appropriate data in support of the financial goals of the Retreat.


• 1-2 years of hands on experience in a front end dining environment.
• Proven experience in dealing with guests in a non-intrusive, supportive, and loving manner.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and train others.
• Must have the ability to identify, anticipate, and address needs of the guest.
• Must possess a cooperative spirit and demonstrate the ability to build a strong ongoing working relationship with staff assigned to them and with representatives of all departments.
• Must possess and/or develop appropriate administrative skills to fulfill the duties of accounting for and reporting food service results.
