Server Support Specialist needed - part time to start and growing into full time. The Server Support Specialist's main role is to maintain and support our customer's servers, networks, and desktop PCs.
Ensure effective and efficient operation of Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, VMWare, Desktop Virtualization, Server Virtualization, Symantec BESR, Server 2003 Standard and Enterprise edition, SQL, Remote Desktop, Terminal Services, and other server-oriented hardware/software and Desktop hardware/software.
Evaluate network architecture and hardware/software configurations against customer goals/plans.
Participate in the review and analysis of internal projects and external connectivity issues.
Coordinate with customer IT management as well as customer senior management to ensure timely and accurate communcations and implementation of all requested updates, changes, or repairs.
Troubleshooting network, server, or desktop issues.
Keep abreast of emerging technologies and make appropriate recommendations regarding their implementation.
Participate in BCP and Disaster Recovery planning and ensure compliance.
Check integrity of backups on a scheduled periodic basis.
Two or more years of experience in technical information systems positions, with at least 1 year of server support experience.
Experience with VMWare, Exchange, Server 2003, and SQL in a commercial application.
In-depth understanding of Server configuration, maintainence, and upgrading, including hardware, software, protocols and related technologies. These include RDC, firewalls, DNS, DHCP, Windows platforms, Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, VMWare, Desktop Virtualization, VDI, etc.
Extensive knowledge with Microsoft products (MCSE certification is a plus)
Excellent analytical, troubleshooting & interpersonal skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Education, Training or Certification:
Bachelor's in a technical discipline or related experience preferred
MCSE, Server +, or Other related certifications preferred
