Nature and Scope of Position
The Director of IT will plan, coordinate, direct, and design all operational activities of the IT department, as well as provide direction and support for IT solutions that enhance mission-critical business operations. The Director of IT will work closely with decision makers in other departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of the organization. This position will report to the Executive Vice President.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Design and implement IT architectural model to facilitate enterprise growth and enhance stability.
Select, develop and implement new POS system and associated reporting and database programs on national, multi-site level.
Define, deliver, and support strategic plans for implementation of information technologies.
Maintenance and technical development of intranet, extranet and websites.
Recommend long-range and short-range IT plans and budgets to Management by being thoroughly familiar with changes in the information technology environment and tailoring those technologies to the needs of the Company.
Implement and monitor all information technology programs, ensuring the effectiveness of programs and that goals, schedules and budgets are met.
Review and advise on purchases of all hardware, software, and automation-related services.
Manage and administer end-user training needs for software applications.
Manage Corporate office infrastructure, including IT and telephonic software.
Provide support to business development and ensure that IT capability is in place.
Ensure that the IT strategy is in alignment with corporate strategy.
Ensure applications development and support aligns with business processes, tactical planning, and strategic vision.
Define and communicate project milestones, service level agreements, and resource allocation to executive team, department leads, support staff, and end users.
Develop and review budgets for IT department and ensure compliance with stated goals, guidelines, and objectives.
Review performance of IT systems to determine operating costs, productivity levels, and upgrade requirements.
Benchmark, analyze, report on, and make recommendations for the improvement of the IT infrastructure and IT systems.
Develop bid requirements for all hardware and software upgrades, reviews submitted with executive management, and makes the appropriate award.
Authorize and oversee the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, and support of all hardware and software based on department needs.
Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives.
Direct research on potential technology solutions and implementations in support of new initiatives, opportunities, and procurement efforts.
Oversee provision of end-user services, including help desk and technical support services.
Develop and implement all IT policies and procedures, including those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing, and service provision.
Oversee negotiation and administration of vendor, outsourcer, and consultant contracts and service agreements.
Manage IT staffing, including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation, and performance improvement.
Establish and maintain regular written and in-person communications with the organization’s executives, department heads, and end users regarding pertinent IT activities.
Performs other related duties as required.
Job applicants should possess the following:
IT Operations Management – good understanding and technical knowledge of networking and PC operating systems, hardware, protocols, and standards, including experience hardware and software; Cisco Security Appliances, VPN, TCP/IP, and Microsoft Stacks (Windows Server 2008, SQL 2008, Microsoft Dynamic Navigation 2009, Microsoft Exchange Server, Microsoft Office 2007, SharePoint, etc). Knowledge and experience to use Microsoft Visio to maintain IT infrastructure diagrams and drawings.
IT Client Services Management - Experience with implementing and managing Client Services Help Desk and IT incident tracking system. Experience with setting service level agreements and standards.
IT Applications Management – experienced with developing, supporting and maintaining an ERP system. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Navigation ERP a plus.
IT System Design, Security & Management – experience with systems design and development from business requirements analysis through to day-to-day management; experience with IT security policies, procedures and administration.
Business Knowledge – knowledge of business theory, business processes, management, budgeting, and business office operations.
Business Ethics – in-depth knowledge of applicable laws and regulations as they relate to IT. Treats people with respect: keeps commitments; inspires trust in others; works with integrity and ethically; upholds organizational values.
Management Experience – management of an IT portfolio in an organized manner; managing time constraints and meeting deadlines; integrating change smoothly; removing obstacles to avoid impact to project milestones.

Bachelor’s degree in the Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field of computer science and 15 years related work experience. Master’s degree in either of these fields or Master of Business Administration with technology as a core component preferred.
5 to 7 years experience managing and/or directing an IT operation. Minimum of 5 years experience in software/application development with ERP systems; Microsoft Dynamic Navigation preferred Proven experience in IT infrastructure strategic planning and development, project management, and policy development. Certification in ITIL and experience implementing a plus.
Certifications in Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP), Microsoft Certified Business Management Solutions Specialist certification or related certification a plus.
Demonstrated ability to apply IT in solving business problems.
