Job Description:
The Senior Web Developer position exists to manage web development tasks and projects including testing and application development. This person would lead troubleshooting efforts and be responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of online programs, web pages, and websites, while maintaining consistency and standards within the systems (including CMS).

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

• Develops projects including web-based applications, website enhancements, database-backed websites and web layout enhancements

• Troubleshoots coding, application, and other technology issues as they arise
• Uses expertise to provide advice on web and other multimedia technical solutions
• Works within a team environment to address the programming needs of visionary web clients
• Manages or participates in processes concerning the architecture of new web applications to meet client needs
• Develops or enhances web pages, elements, web forms, forums or entire websites utilizing programming languages such as: HTML, XML, XHTML, XTML, CFML, Javascript, CSS, ActiveX, ActionScript, and RegEx, etc, following industry and best practice standards
• Manages and progresses web tasks and projects using a range of software tools e.g., Adobe CS4 (Fireworks, DreamWeaver, PhotoShop and Illustrator)
• Works with a variety of database systems e.g., MySQL, etc.
• Is responsible for working on multiple projects simultaneously
• Reviews, analyzes and modifies web systems including documenting, designing, developing, testing, monitoring, and maintenance
• Installs or customizes modules and features for Open Source and proprietary software packages
• Works with Apache and Microsoft IIS web servers. Interact with servers using FTP, Telnet, and SSH protocols
• Provides advice and educates internal clients regarding web concepts
• Is responsible for meeting set goals and deadlines for web related tasks and projects
• Provides solutions and meets requirements of internal clients where possible

Personal Characteristics:
• Lives with integrity derived from Biblical values and demonstrates standards of conduct that meet or exceed company and/or legal requirements -Results-oriented, self-motivated and committed -Avid interest in the Internet, especially as it relates to the key components of content delivery

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Science, Communications, other relevant discipline, or equivalent relevant experience -
• 7-10 years experience in web development including web programming skills including manual coding, designing using web development software, editing, and troubleshooting
• Expert-level knowledge of CSS and JavaScript and very strong experience in other web related programming languages -Experience and proven track record working on a multi-language websites
• Experience in a range of web development and maintenance tools
• Experience with Content Management Systems
• Expert working knowledge and experience in using best practice and industry standards e.g., W3C, Dublin Core, etc.
• Experience drafting requirements and functional specifications
• Experience interpreting and translating business requirements into technical requirements

Skills Abilities and Special Talents/Gifts:
• Advanced working knowledge of Online Best Practice Standards e.g., coding, accessibility, etc.
• Attention to detail is necessary with an ability to work in a variety of web development environments
• Ability to use experience to quickly and efficiently troubleshoot issues
• Good project management and excellent internal client service skills
• Excellent communication skills to technical and non-technical audiences
• Additional skills desired: Flash, .Net, ASP, etc.
