Wycliffe Bible Translators
Job Description:
Wycliffe’s vision is that God’s Word is accessible to all people in a language that speaks to their heart. Our mission is to see a Bible translation program in progress in every language needing one by 2025.

Wycliffe works all around the world. Currently our efforts serve languages spoken in more than 90 countries. The majority of the remaining translation needs represent minority languages—relatively small people groups, many of which struggle to maintain their identity in the shadow of majority culture. Often these groups have no written language of their own, and many struggle to gain the literacy skills they need to prosper in the majority culture.

The benefits of translation and literacy for these minority language groups are many. They include better health as a result of access to medical information, economic growth due to the acquisition of marketable skills, and the preservation of culture thanks to a written history. Most importantly, Bible translation brings people closer to God Himself—the One who transforms hearts.

Each person who participates in the Bible translation movement has been created by God, gifted by God and called by God. While we are a diverse community, we are driven by a single passion: The glory of God through the translation of the Word for every person on earth in the language they understand best.

The Role of the Assistant to the President for Development
The Assistant to the President for Development helps accelerate the worldwide Bible translation movement by providing project management, particularly for the President’s donor caseload, and administrative support and assistance to the President, thereby building his capacity–so that the message and vision of Wycliffe is effectively communicated to the Christian public in a way that will mobilize them to become a part of accomplishing the goals of Vision 2025 and the Last Languages Campaign. This position focuses particularly on supporting the President with responsibilities related to fund-raising.
The ideal candidate will balance their ability and desire to be a good team player who demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills with a strong commitment to thoroughness, conscientiousness, diplomacy, and accuracy. The candidate must be able to manage many responsibilities and projects all at one time. Discernment and the ability to make decisions independently will enable this person to be a servant leader. This person knows how to lead from abundance rather than scarcity – described as gracious rather than condemning, providing balance and direction to others. The ideal candidate is confident and trustworthy.

Wycliffe was founded in 1942 by William Cameron Townsend. As a result, Townsend resolved that every man, woman and child should be able to read God’s Word in their own language. Since its inception, Wycliffe has made great progress in Bible translation all around the world. To date, we have played a part in the tra More...
