Cookson Hills offers residential education and thereapeutic services to children and families. A one thousand acre campus nestled in the hills of northeast Oklahoma provide a rustic and restorative setting for both children and staff to thrive.
All children actively engage in therapeutic services that include equine assisted therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and/or play therapy as may be needed.
A well developed recreational and athletic program enable all students to participate in age appropriate organized athletic activities including football, volleyball, basketball and ranch rodeo events. Additional family and small group based recreational activities provide children a wealth of other interesting pursuits including hiking, exploring, wilderness camping, high and low ropes, rock climbing, horsemanship, canoeing, swimming and numerous other 4H type activities.
A year round ACSI accredited educational program earns ACT test composite average scores ranking our high school in the top 10% of all Oklahoma high schools while Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS) scores reveal that, on average, students advance 1.50 years on grade level equivalency scores per year.
Our unique community of care includes four core elements:
• Family style living,
• ACSI accredited and highly individualized education,
