Job Description:
Answers in Genesis is an apologetics (i.e., Christianity-defending) ministry, dedicated to enabling Christians to defend their faith and to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ effectively. We focus particularly on providing answers to questions surrounding the book of Genesis, as it is the most-attacked book of the Bible.

Web Developer—Python
Reports To: Web Architect & Design Manager

A Web Developer coordinates with other developers on all current projects and will work on a diverse set of web applications for multiple platforms, juggling both large projects and urgent quick tasks.

• Develop/support web apps using Python with the Django framework
• Develop using Eclipse with PyDev in combination with virtualenv and django development server
• Implementation of specific components of in-progress large projects in multiple programming languages (including projects spanning over 18 months)
• Assist in planning for large projects and load-balancing many simultaneous tasks
• Accurately estimate work required to complete tasks
• Interpret UML models and suggest improvements to designs
• Receive project requirements via diagrams, verbal or written instructions and translate those into a completed project
• Develop/support web applications with javascript/ajax rich frontends
• Develop/support web applications using HTML 4/5 & CSS 2/3
• Develop using current Web technologies

• JavaScript libraries (e.g. jQuery)
• Web-oriented languages (e.g. Python and PHP)
• Dynamic content with dynamic URLs and database-generated web pages

• Independently resourceful—researching solutions with minimal supervision
• Organized—able to keep track of multiple concurrent projects
• Creative—thinking “outside the box” for optimal solutions to difficult problems
• A fast learner—adapting to new platforms with minimal coaching

Education & Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
• Practical experience developing in Python (ideally experience in Django)
• Practical experience developing specifically for the web
• Experience in JavaScript/jQuery a plus (procedural & OOP)
• Experience with Flash/ActionScript a plus
