Job Description:
To work with New York City churches to develop safe and effective mentoring ministries to reach fatherless and motherless youth in their congregations and communities.

1. To work with NYCLC staff to recruit churches who will run mentoring ministries
2. Engage and mobilize New York City Churches area churches
a. To raise the awareness of the need for mentoring
b. To work with churches to recruit team members
c. Assist in organizing and mobilizing church team
3. Work with churches to develop lay teams to incorporate the best practices of safe and effective mentoring in the
a. Recruitment
b. Screening
c. Training
d. Supervision
e. Evaluation
4. Work with the Christian Association of Youth Mentoring to train and provide materials and guidance to NYCLC and
the churches
5. Help churches set up programs to holistically minister to reach youth which includes their Christian spiritual
development. Provide spiritual support and guidance to the team leaders.
6. To work with NYCLC to raise funds to maintain and grow the ministry
7. Manage and supervise of each church to ensure that the matches are made
8. Manage operational processes and reporting needs such as tracking churches, mentoring matches, etc. and
provide monthly reporting to NYCLC and CAYM leadership.
9. Meet with CAYM and NYCLC for strategic planning monthly by phone and quarterly in person
10. Be a member of the NYCLC Management Team and participate in team life:
team meetings including prayer and devotionals, strategic planning, etc.

Year 1:
1. Seven churches have fully functioning mentoring teams
2. 70 youth are matched with mentors

Year 2:
1. 14 new Churches have fully functioning mentoring team
2. 140 new youth are being mentored, 210 youth overall
3. Develop ministry model and plan for long-term development
4. Long-term funding is in place

• 45-50 hours/week


• Committed Christian
• Demonstrated Leadership ability in Community organizing
• Strong skills in planning, organizing and attention to detail – must be experienced in managing the direction of an
organization and overseeing operations
• Able to communicate effectively with community leaders as well as youth and families in New York City
• Basic understanding of youth, families and demonstrated interest in mentoring and youth development
• Cross-cultural competencies
• Education: 4 year college degree
• Prior experience with managing a mentoring program is preferred
