Health Program Director
Monte Cristi, Dominican Republic, Dominican Republic
Date Posted: 09/17/2010
Categories: Health Care - Missions
Job Type: Full-Time
Orphanage Outreach hosts 2000 short term American and Canadian volunteers each year in the Dominican Republic.
One of our programs is the Orphanage Outreach Health Corps program. We provide public health education to rural communities and local schools, as well as provide medical and dental clinics in very rural communities. In 2010, approximately 600 health volunteers joined us.
Orphanage Outreach is looking for a Program Leader to lead our Health Corps. Our Health Corps Program Director will lead these educational and clinical programs, designing the philosophy and structure of the program, preparing locations ahead of the volunteers arriving, coordinating getting meds and supplies into the country, orienting and leading the teams, and more. The job will challenge whatever leadership and management skills you have. You will be working with other Orphanage Outreach leaders.
This is a great opportunity to share Christ's love with the Dominican people, Christian volunteers, and unchurched volunteers. It can be an unbelievably fulfilling job.
Requirements include a health related college degree, strong work experience, strong leadership experience, strong communication skills, Spanish fluency. Minimum job term expectation - 2 years.
Position includes room and board, excellent insurance, a monthly financial stipend, and a one month long trip home each year.
Applicants with children are strongly discouraged from applying due to the extreme workload, extreme flexibility required, very limited living space, and limited educational opportunities.
