Our nonprofit client, JesusCentral.com, has recently retained our executive search firm to assist in locating an Executive Director to lead the organization’s development and expand efforts around the world.
As a U.S.-based nonprofit 501(c)(3), JesusCentral.com currently operates websites in English, Chinese, and Arabic to introduce people to Jesus (www.jesuscentral.com). Founded in 2001, its mission is to reach people around the world who want to learn more about Jesus. The site is the starting point for learning about Jesus based on original source documents. JesusCentral.com enables people from all over the world to source information and share their thoughts with others. Already, people form 194 countries have visited the site. From China alone more than 6,000,000 unique visitors have been drawn to the Chinese language website. Tens of thousands of Chinese have enrolled in a six-week, Jesus101 course offered on the site. JesusCentral.com continues to grow with donations and support from generous individuals, churches, foundations and corporations. Plans for expansion include a greater presence in China and other parts of the world to serve more than 100 million people.
Reporting to the President/Founder, initial responsibility will be for the organization’s overall development efforts with focus on building the Major Donor Program. The Executive Director will refine the value proposition message and develop collateral materials for presentations and proposals. The selected leader will expand efforts through research for other potential donor bases. Development work may include other channels, including grant proposals, donor mailings, and website events. The new Executive Director will serve as the primary face and ambassador of JesusCentral.com and have increasing responsibility for overall management of the organization, including direct interaction with the Board of Directors. Engaging donors is the heart of this ministry work.
We seek an individual with at least 10+ years of fundraising or sales experience. The ideal candidate will have been in charge of a portfolio of high-net-worth individuals, trusts, foundations, and corporations individually giving $25,000 or more annually. We seek an individual with experience in major donor development capable of fundraising in excess of $1 million annually. A Bachelor degree is expected. Training in donor development or sales work at the executive level is a plus. The selected individual will have an understanding and passion for the mission of JesusCentral.com and a calling to lead others to learn more about Jesus.
Compensation is comparable to other nonprofits and includes a competitive benefits package. The location of this position is Southern California, with expected travel. This is an outstanding career opportunity supporting a growing international ministry.
