Manager of Information Technology Department Job Description

TEAM is a robust user of Information Technology, depending on IT technologies to provide for the information needs of a workforce that serves in over 30 world areas. The Manager of the Information Technology department is responsible to exercise leadership and use well-developed technological skills to facilitate planning, procurement, configuration, operations, maintenance, data integrity and security, and end-user support for information technology resources and systems to advance TEAM's ministry and operational effectiveness. Currently, the IT department is a two person workgroup.

This job is a full-time salaried job at our Carol Stream, IL office. Benefits include paid vacation and holidays, healthcare benefits, retirement plan benefits and free coffee. (We stock Mountain Dew, but it is 40¢ a can.)

Information Technology Department

Reports to
Director of Operations

The job requires an individual who
• Is a growing disciple of Jesus Christ, characterized by spiritual and emotional maturity
• Has a strong sense of customer relations and a desire to serve others
• Has programming skills in SQL and VisualBasic (required) and is comfortable and functional with Crystal Reports and MS Access. A knowledge of .Net and Joomla is helpful.
• Is experienced in network management, including security and infrastructure development and can do server maintenance
• Has a comprehensive knowledge of information technology systems and has high proficiency in personal computing, internet, and productivity software
• Is proactive, organized, forward-thinking yet practical, decisive, and has excellent project management skills
• Is a very good listener and an able communicator
• Can capably manage both people and tasks to deliver agreed-upon objectives
• Has a good sense of humor and readily laughs

• Operations: Ensure that information resources and professional support are readily accessible to TEAM office staff and other clients.
• Customer Service: Maintain an effective helpdesk system and a user advocacy system that enables the IT team to meet user needs and facilitate collaboration throughout the organization
• Communication: Communicate regularly with department staff and other offices; ensure that team reports and documentation are effective and timely
• Planning: Work with the Director of Operations and others as a trusted and respected advisor, whose influence is proactive rather than reactive; able to advise on the effective use of technology; be responsible for IT project management
• Personnel: Lead the IT team to develop increasing effectiveness as a ministry-minded information resource and as technology professionals
• Policy: Work with the Director of Operations to develop and implement policies and procedures to provide effective information services
• Budgeting & Fiscal Oversight: Develop a realistic annual budget and administrate the IT department's operations to operate within budget parameters; facilitate procurement and execute vendor agreements within appropriate protocols
• Professional Development: Develop an annual plan for professional development of IT department staff. Mentor and empower personnel
• Assessment: Oversee development and implementation of a system for ongoing monitoring of IT departmental operations
• Technical Services: Be a working member of the IT team in providing the services needed to ensure that information technology systems and end-user tools are operational and that the department's objectives are achieved

The work is performed in an office setting and the following abilities are required for the position:
• Communicate appropriately and clearly both verbally and in writing with telephone callers, office visitors and co-workers. Comprehend and speak English with the general public and co-workers
• Operate office equipment in order to send and receive information with necessary optical, auditory and manual dexterity
• Use a keyboard and mouse to enter, retrieve or transfer words or data;
• Work for extended periods of time at a computer, requiring the ability to focus on and read/comprehend information on a computer screen, basic typing to enter information and/or move from screen to screen on the computer to view information
• Sit at an office desk for extended periods of time
• Tolerate dust and fumes from general cleaning and maintenance procedures
• Walk, stand, and stoop; and put in or retrieve papers from file cabinet drawers as well as carry, move and connect computer equipment
