Provides technical leadership and direction to all facets of Compassion’s SQL Database Server Administration (DBA) functions within the Foundations Services group. Aligns DBA activity with industry best practice as well as process, methodology, and vision from over-all Foundation Services, Quality Assurance, Change & Release Management, and the IT Technical Director. Accountable for quality, robustness and strategic alignment of DBA process primarily in the context of Incident & Problem Management and Change & Release Management. Responsible to champion continuous improvement of DBA products and process services provided by Foundation Services. Acts as a liaison between customer, project / product managers, and production change / release with respect to direction, process, and implementation. Responsible for the full life cycle management of DBA methodology and process within Compassion’s production SQL Database Servers to ensure successful and most effective use of database technology to support production business operations.

Acts as an advocate for children – raising the awareness of the needs, neglect, nurture, and potential of children in poverty and challenging and enabling those within one’s influence to greater involvement and effectiveness on behalf of children.
Accountable for solutions fulfilling all agreed upon requirements. Contributes to Incident and Problem Management and to Change and Release Management for on-time delivery and kept commitments. Some production deployments may be scheduled to occur during off-hours so as to minimize impact to normal business operations.
Accountable for alignment of each individual production release to ensure current customer OLA’s and SLA’s are fully maintained within production SQL Database Server environments. Represents Foundations Services DBMS at various meetings with various IT customer groups (CSGs), etc.
Accountable for the quality of products and services including relationships with QA, Change and Release Management and IT Customer Service Groups (CSGs).
Champions and initiates continuous improvement on the Foundations Services DBMS team by introducing, creating, facilitating team brainstorming of, overseeing, documenting and refining DBA process and methodology.
Accountable for following up with SQL Server product bug fixes, knowing the release schedule of the vendor, and understanding what features are included in each patch and release. Helps product / project managers in conjuction with Change and Release Management with scheduling of when to move to the next release.
Responsible to have the deepest level of understanding of the overall DBA process used within DBMS Foundations Services, as part of continuous improvement, to be the most knowledgeable person on the team of the industry disciplines in use in SQL Server Administration process and methodology.
