This position supports the various operations of the finance department by performing accounting services related to preparing, analyzing, maintaining records and reports; as well as providing support for payroll and expense reimbursement processing.
•Perform accounting functions including: maintaining the general ledger, reconciling accounts, setting-up new accounts and funds, assisting the Sr. Staff Accountant with the annual audit, preparing special accounting reports and maintaining all accounting records.
•Prepare bank reconciliations.
•Prepare quarterly sales tax returns.
•Prepare adjusting journal entries.
•Process team and corporate expense reimbursements including: auditing expense reports, communicating with staff regarding their expense reports, and verifying coding for payment processing.
•Assist the Sr. Staff Accountant with budget functions including: preparing budget spreadsheets, monitoring the budget and assuring budget compliance, and preparing monthly budget vs actual reports.
•Assist the Sr. Staff Accountant with special finance / administrative projects including: financial projections, Board and Finance committee meeting preparations, setting up new finance / administrative systems and procedures, etc.
•Assist with payroll including: reconciling payroll and prepare payroll journal entries.
•Assist with month end close process, including assessment calculation.
•Back up payroll, accounts receivable, and accounts payable functions including: calculating payroll and submitting to ADP, calculating end of month payroll wires, reviewing accounts receivable batches for accuracy, and reviewing staff ministry expense reimbursements.
•Assist Sr. Staff Accountant it answering staff inquiries.
2 years experience as a Staff Accountant, with a minimum of 1 year with a non-profit or church, including:
•Experience with fund accounting
•Experience with MAS 90 accounting system
•Proficiency in Excel
•Proficiency in 10-key
•Thorough knowledge of accounting principles
•Good written and verbal communication skills
•Good organizational skills
•Ability to work well independently and with a team
•Willingness to learn and serve
