Head of Pediatric Department


Summary:


CURE International Hospital is primarily a teaching hospital with services in family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, OBGYN, pathology, general surgery, plastic surgery and orthopedics. The pediatric component of CURE International Hospital provides care and consultation services for all children treated at the Hospital or the Family Health Centre as inpatients or outpatients whether routinely or in an emergency situation.


Cure International Hospital runs a small NICU with incubators for 10 babies. These services need the leadership of an experienced pediatrician to further support existing neonatalogy specialists.


An important function of the Head of Pediatrics is his/her commitment to training others. The MOPH has recognized a 3-year family medicine residency training program and one of the primary jobs of the pediatric department to ensure that by the end of 3-years, all residents are competent in the field of pediatrics.


Purpose of the Position:


The Head of Pediatrics will be responsible for establishing and maintaining good evidence-based, standards of care for patients, both public and private. He/she will be responsible to train and teach the principles of paediatric and neonatal care along with the necessary techniques to doctors training at Cure International Hospital and to oversee the practice of pediatrics by these doctors.


The Head of Department is also responsible for continuing the improvement in quality of care, education and administration of the department. The Head will ensure that the pediatric staff provide a quality service and follow any National Guidelines that apply to newborn/ pediatric services in Afghanistan.
