Houseparents in the Caribbean!- Immediate Need

All employees of New Horizons Youth Ministries must fully understand the Mission and Philosophy of NHYM and be supportive of same prior to employment.

The Houeparents Primary Responsibilities:
The position entails providing emotional support and nurturing, relationship development, and meal planning/preparation in a Christian boarding school environment. Position entails a "living in" work situation in a student residence, approximately 10 students per residence.

This position demands good interpersonal and professional communication skills (written and verbal with proficiency in Microsoft Word) and ability to effectively present supportive information in group settings and to other entities.

The ability to work closely with others on a personal and professional level within a small Christian community located in the Dominican Republic is a must. Escuela Caribe’s community environment may require participation in other program activities, retreats and special events as requested.

The ideal candidate for the position for the Housemother should possess a Bachelor’s degree... preferred but not required for this position. Qualified candidates need to be 21 years of age or older and possess a strong desire to work in youth ministry. An initial two year commitment is also required. A stipend is provided as well as housing and airfare.

New Horizons Youth Ministries does unique work with bright, under-achieving adolescents. Our combination of program locations and emphasis on a therapeutic Christian education places this ministry in a classification of its very own. At each of our locations our mission is to provide an environment where students are kept from the negative pressures of the world and given a chance to get on their feet physically, emotionally, and spiritually. We do this by providing a structured environment where warm, redemptive relationships can be built with our staff. We have a strong emphasis on teaching teamwork, responsibility, and respect for authority. It is imperative that our staff members have the ability to role model Christ-like character to our students.
