The Director of Spiritual Integration (DSI) is responsible for providing strategic direction, guidance, and coordination of HOPE’s efforts to effectively integrate an intentional witness for Jesus Christ, appropriate to the context, in its microfinance and other programs. The DSI will support, advise, coach, and provide training and technical assistance to field programs to assist them in maximizing their effectiveness in pre-evangelism, evangelism, discipleship, and strengthening the Church. This will support the first goal in HOPE’s 2007-2010 Strategic Plan, namely, to “significantly improve HOPE’s spiritual integration.” It will also follow the principles outlined by the Sub-Committee for Spiritual Vitality of HOPE’s Board of Directors in its strategy for spiritual integration.

To promote and fulfill the mission and vision of HOPE International

I. Serve country directors and other staff to help them design, develop, and implement effective Spiritual Integration strategies, principles, and practices that are appropriate for their respective contexts;
II. Encourage efforts in this area by celebrating, promoting, and applauding successes;
III. Promote lateral learning amongst HOPE staff and other stakeholders in this area;
IV. Liaise with and coordinate with external resource people (such as missiologists, students, and others) to advise on, review, and evaluate field programs on sound practices, metrics, etc.;
V. Research, learn from, and stay current in the fields of microfinance, development, and missiology;
VI. Participate in conferences, workshops, and related events to learn from and contribute to sound practices in the field;
VII. Collect and disseminate useful tools, resources, and practices to colleagues;
VIII. Travel (up to four trips/year) to some of the fourteen countries where HOPE operates;
IX. Contribute to efforts to raise funds for HOPE’s ministry; and
X. Assist HOPE to achieve its mission in other ways as directed by superior and/or other HOPE leadership.

I. Personal confession of faith in Jesus Christ and commitment to the mission and vision of HOPE International and to effective spiritual integration;
II. Servant leadership;
III. Ability to facilitate and enable colleagues to set and achieve objectives;
IV. Advanced degree in relevant field or equivalent through experience;
V. Understanding of and experience in Christ-centered international development and missions;
VI. Strong organizational skills, including effective time management and prioritization of competing demands/multiple deadlines;
VII. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
VIII. Expertise in missiology;
IX. Excellent oral, written, and public communication skills;
X. Excellent networking ability; and
XI. Proficiency in one or more foreign languages.
