Long Grove Community Church is currently looking to fill the position of CHILDREN’S MINISTRIES DIRECTOR

The part-time Children’s Ministries Director will be responsible for overseeing leading and guiding Children’s Ministry which focuses on infants - 5th grade. The purpose of this position is to lead Children’s Ministries towards their vision and mission of laying a firm foundation for the children of our church and fulfilling Our Mission to partner with parents as we help kids connect with God in a life changing way as they discover how to have a relationship with Jesus Christ and actively live for Him. We seek to create a fun and loving environment, in which children can grow in their relationship with Jesus, hear God’s Word and learn to share His love with others in their communities.

That, relying on Jesus Christ the Lord, through His Holy Spirit, every person in the body will be united and held together, building up the body of Christ in love as each one does his or her own part. Further, it is the vision of this church to equip people, empowered by the Holy Spirit, to serve one another and to take the Good News of Jesus to this community and beyond.”

As we summarize the essentials for all staff members, we look specifically to three criteria: Character, Competency and Chemistry. Godly Character is what describes the developed attributes of a new creature in Christ. Competency defines the gifts and abilities from Christ needed to do the job. Chemistry is the importance of assimilating with the rest of the staff and body of Christ. All of the above are essential.

The essential CHARACTER qualities desired follows:
•Passion for God and People: As seen in their vision, personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, relationship to others, and desire to see people come to faith.
•Maturity in Christ: As evidenced by the fruit of the Spirit and demonstrated track record with present and past relationships.
•Wisdom in the Ways of God and Man: As demonstrated by their methods, both past and present, in dealing with difficulties and obstacles.
•A Servant’s Heart: As seen in the way he/she lives his/her life inside and outside of his/her formal job description.
•Servant Leader: As demonstrated by the way he/she recognizes and values the contributions of different members of the body.

The gifts and abilities that identify COMPETENCY are:
•Leadership: Knowing where God is leading and the capacity to bring others along.
•Vision: Articulating direction so that people are impassioned and energized to follow. Self starter and initiator of ideas and activities.
•Discipleship: Described by past and present disciples who are now actively serving God and discipling others.
•Training: Equipping others so they are resourced and empowered to walk more fully in their gifts and abilities.
•Communication: Teaching, speaking and listening clearly, relevantly and biblically.
•Team Player: Understands and exhibits strong team building skills as well as performs well as a team player. Must enjoy accomplishing goals through teamwork. Gifted working with volunteers and staff.
•A heart for children and their spiritual lives.
•Administrative and leadership skills and experience.
•Education or training in childhood education preferred.

The specific duties to be performed by the individual in this position require a high level of CHEMISTRY with other staff and leadership. The individual must demonstrate the ability to get along with a wide range of personalities. Specific responsibilities are contained in attachment A. The Children’s Ministries Director will need to spend a proportioned amount of time on site. This will require regular office hours to be available to staff and congregation. The position reports to the Ministry Operations Director.

Educational & Experience Requirements:
•Children’s ministry experience desired
•Christian Education Degree desired

Essential Functions:
•Oversee the core ministries within Children’s Ministries. This includes nursery, Little Lambs (2 & 3 year olds), preschool and grade school (K-5th).
•Oversee the Sunday morning experience for children.
•Oversee a midweek children’s program for 4th & 5th graders. Recruit, equip and empower leaders to lead this program if offered.
•Oversee the planning and coordination of children’s events like an Easter Party, Christmas Party, etc.
•Oversee the planning and coordination of a Vacation Bible School program.
•Recommend changes and modifications as needed to any established Children’s Ministries programs and curriculum.
•Lead, empower, equip and shepherd the core leadership of the Children’s Ministries Team.
•Recruit and connect leaders and volunteers to areas of Children’s Ministries that fit their individual passion and giftedness.
•Lead the periodic (minimum quarterly) Children’s Ministries Core Teachers meetings and attend all other ministry team meetings as necessary.
•Make decisions based on vision and budget.
•Work with the Pastor and Youth Pastor to develop continuity between Children and Youth education programs.
•Provide monthly ministry reports to the Ministry Operations Director and an annual report for the congregation.
•Attend monthly Ministry Leader meetings.
•Develop and oversee the budget for Children’s Ministries.
•Promote Children’s Ministries and share the Vision for Children’s Ministries within the church.
•Oversee the coordination of childcare for church-wide meetings/events like, the Annual Meeting and church Wide Study groups and Celebrate Recovery..
•Oversee facility and safety needs. This includes organization, structure and storage rooms.
•Oversee the content of the Info Center and Website where it relates to Children’s Ministry.
•Meet with the Ministry Operations Director on a regular basis to evaluate progress on vision development, planning, goals and objectives.

The Children’s Ministries Director is accountable to the Ministry Operations Director.
