Church Maintenance/Custodian

Job Description:
First Baptist Church of Mesa has an opening for a part time handyman/facilities maintenance man. Must be able to monitor and diagnose problems with mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural systems on a campus of three buildings. The individual will also monitor the cleanliness of the campus, provide cleaning services, and provide advice on additional cleaning services necessary. Specific duties include:

Mechanical:
Program air conditioning/heating units and monitor operation.
Troubleshoot inoperative units.
Identify problems, and address the simple ones.
Change filters and clean coils.
Maintain records on the status of approximately 51 units.

Plumbing:
Clear minor clogs, identify broken lines and devices.

Electrical:
Identify circuits and troubleshoot.
Identify outsourcing requirements.
Change light bulbs and simple devices.
Monitor exterior lighting for bulb replacement and adjust timers.
Maintain equipment records.

Physical:
Clean sanctuary, fellowship hall, and designated classrooms and offices.
Clean and service designated restrooms.
Clean/Sweep exterior walkways and parking areas.
Wash church windows.
Monitor roof/walls/paint/eaves for conditions requiring additional work.
Check storage areas.
Clean and maintain maintenance equipment.
Room set-up and tear-down.
Maintain records of services needed (outsourced or in-house).


Recommend and (if approved) coordinate the use of outsourced maintenance activities, to include carpet cleaning, floor waxing, pest control, major repairs and/or equipment diagnostic inspections.

Anticipate 20 to 25 hours per week.
