Job Description:
Bright Hope International is a Christian relief and development organization dedicated to bringing hope to those who earn less than one dollar a day. We provide for the physical, economic and spiritual needs of the absolute poor through holistic partnership with local, indigenous churches in some of the poorest countries in the world in Africa, Asia and Latin America.

The Director of Ally Development is a full time position. It leads all aspects of our ally flow. This includes acquisition of new allies, cultivating and caring for existing allies, and reconnecting past allies to support the mission and projects of Bright Hope. This position directs the overall ally acquisition and cultivation strategy, including all current and new ally touch-points and experiences. The position leads marketing and communications efforts to identify new and existing markets and communication tools to support ally growth. The position directs the brand strategy to position Bright Hope as being different than the dozens of other organizations that serve the poor. The position reports to the President, is part of the senior leadership team and works closely with an interdisciplinary team.

Position Requirements:
The requirements of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Partners with senior management to clarify and deliver the mission and vision of Bright Hope
• Engages with Bright Hope Board of Directors to communicate ally acquisition and cultivation strategy and report status/growth
• Develops, implements, evaluates and directs the overall ally acquisition and cultivation strategy to acquire donors and bring them into deeper engagement with Bright Hope
• Designs, implements, evaluates and directs marketing approaches to support ally growth, including defining, targeting, and measuring current and new market segments
• Designs the brand strategy for Bright Hope to ensure a consistent message internally and externally
• Designs, implements, evaluates and directs communication approaches to support ally growth
• Plans and directs the ministry’s annual marketing and communications calendar
• Analyzes, measures, and monitors effectiveness of marketing/communication approaches (campaigns, products, appeals, etc)
• Measures donor movement to ensure growth and value
• Develops and delivers articles, press releases, direct mail, email campaigns, monthly appeals, radio broadcasts, website content (including videos), internet and/or other media to current and new allies to convey the mission and vision of Bright Hope
• Converts raw data and information into compelling, impactful writing pieces
• Develops, manages and updates overall website content
• Identifies and captures diverse revenue streams, such as endowments and grants
• Manages and develops staff talent, including identifying team and individual performance goals, measuring performance, providing performance feedback, and conducting performance reviews
• Manages part time staff, committee members, and/or contracted graphic/website technicians
• Recruits and cultivates volunteer support as needed

Additional requirements include:
• Leads, mentors, and develops departmental staff for future growth and development
• Has excellent written communications skills
• Has strong verbal communications skills
• Manages multiple priorities well

Preferred Qualifications:
• Masters level degree in related field
• 10-15 years Marketing and Communications experience
• Proven experience in leading, managing, and developing others
• Experience in the non-profit sector a plus
• Experience in Development and foundation/corporate grant-making a plus
• Experience in internet marketing a plus
• Experience in fundraising a plus
• Missions experience and/or experience in serving the abject poor a plus
• Familiarity with website design and development and video production
• Familiarity/proficiency in graphics programs such as Adobe Photo Shop and InDesign
• Familiarity/proficient in Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge
