Job Description:
PEP is in a season of rapid growth, evolving from a loose startup into a mature organization that requires structure, effective collaboration processes, and leadership development. The CDO will be responsible for developing and executing short and long-term strategic fundraising plans to raise the resources necessary to achieve the organization’s growth objectives. This will require dynamic leadership skill, innovative development strategy, and winsome networking talent. The CDO will be a highly visible executive, leading in collaboration with the CEO and COO with areas of responsibility generally distinguished as follows:

CDO Responsibilities

Strategy & Execution
• Work with finance team to formulate accurate revenue projections and develop an evolving fundraising strategy to meet revenue goals;
• Design fundraising campaigns focusing on the optimal combination of annual giving, major donors, multiple-year pledges/sustained giving, planned giving, workplace giving, endowments, individual and corporate matching programs;
• Develop and nurture donor relationships to increase the base of support from current and potential donors;
• Maximize use of current technologies like the PEP website and social networking tools to engage and receive contributions from constituents;
• Identify and cultivate alternative funding sources to support the organization; and
• Develop and manage the fund development budget.

Leadership
• Provide comprehensive leadership, accountability and mentoring to the fundraising team – as a group, and as individual performers;
• Divide, assign and supervise donor portfolios for fundraising team members and manage a personal portfolio of high-potential donors;
• Equip and lead regional fundraising teams through clear performance goals and continuous communication;
• Collaborate with Board fundraising committees to leverage members’ networks and development experience; and
• Lead the communications team to develop a clear, cohesive organization-wide message campaign, which will include materials for donors and other constituents.

Administration & Reporting
The CDO will ensure the useful and timely reporting of revenue sources as well as the accuracy and confidentiality of current and potential donor information.
• Develop and manage appropriate pipeline, contribution-tracking and reporting systems to equip fundraising team to achieve goals;
• Maintain a multi-purpose, scalable constituent database;
• Prepare reports for executive team and Board of Directors; and
• In collaboration with finance team, develop and supervise a strategic donation receipting and donor acknowledgment process.

Requirements

• Minimum of five years of fundraising experience using creative, yet proven development strategies;
• Minimum of three years managing teams of five or more, including fundraising professionals;
• Bachelors degree required, preferably in business, marketing or communications, with an advanced degree preferred;
• Proven history of achieving aggressive fundraising goals, both through individual performance and through leadership of other fundraisers;
• Demonstrated track record of personally raising a minimum annual goal of $1 million or more;
• Direct experience and confidence with revenue forecasting and budget management; and
• Excellent written communication skills with meticulous attention to detail;
