Job Description:
Oversee the efficient day-to-day operation of the site. This includes its’ programs, the safety and well being of the clients, the delivery of services to the clients and the community, as well as the general overall supervision, leadership, and organization of all programs.


• Should possess a Master’s Degree in health/human services field or a Bachelor’s Degree with related administrative and/or supervisory experience
• Appropriate State license or certification (e.g. CSW, LLP, RN)
• Appropriate State of Michigan substance abuse credentials
• At least 4 years of successful supervisory experience
• Ability to lead and motivate people
• Ability to work in a team setting
• Possess a working knowledge of addiction recovery
• Good communication skills
• Valid Michigan Chauffeur License and approved by The Salvation Army MVR
• T. B. test and police clearance required


• Hire, supervise and terminate all personnel
• Assure the appropriate training of staff
• Maintain accurate documentation regarding supervised staff
• Verify and approve hours worked for employees and submit information to the payroll person in a timely manner
• Provide for client/residents safety, security and services
• Develop and implement programs as planned
• Prepare and maintain a Site Budget
• Assure delivery of services in a cost-effective manner
• Assure adequate recording-keeping, and monitor and evaluate the adequacy.
• Respond to Request for Proposals as appropriate
• Facilitate monthly staff meetings
• Monitor all admissions and discharges
• Evaluate all program activities
• Respond to all Site emergencies, following the approved Policies and Procedures of The Harbor Light
• Act as a liaison to all funding sources as necessary to assure provision of client services
• Represent The Harbor Light in community functions and or committees, as necessary
• Serve as a member of the Board of Management, the Quality Improvement Committee, the Outcome Measure Committee, and other committees deemed necessary by the Administrator
• Submit all reports accurately and in a timely manner
• Understand and work within The Salvation Army and Harbor Light Mission and Positional Statements. Possess an excellent working knowledge of The Harbor Light Policies and Procedures
