Job Description:
Shelter for Life International (SFL) is a Christian, faith-based non-profit organization, whose purpose is to demonstrate God's love by enabling people affected by conflict and disaster to rebuild their communities and restore their lives. We desire to find a person experienced in overseeing the development and application of international relief efforts while meeting the high standards of governments and donors.

Preferred Education: Bachelors degree or higher in business and/or project management.

Preferred Experience: Ten (10) years at a senior level of project management within international development and related fields.

Preferred Attitude: Appreciative of and respectful toward people of other cultures; enjoys cooperative efforts in problem solving; confident, yet open to learning from others; open to both taking direction and providing direction; accountable; has a strong desire to make a positive and lasting difference in the well-being of others, especially of those who are economically disadvantaged; enjoys team-work and is willing to travel to and work in high-risk areas.

Preferred Skills: Possibility thinking; both speaking and writing communication ability especially in sharing the vision and mission of SFL; creating and managing a balanced budget; team-building; able to motivate others to high achievement in challenging situations; able to provide comprehensive yet understandable reports to the SFL Board of Directors, governments, donors and others.

Summary of Duties:

1. Work with program developers to lay out activity grid, timelines and cash-flow projections then oversee all major project activities and staff to project completion within contracted timelines, budgets, activities and outputs, resulting in excellent, project implementation.
2. Monitor performance of all projects including narrative reporting and information/data capture functions, providing reports to HQ, field offices and donors.
3. Oversee field facilities, security and project logistics.
4. Deal with field staff issues including recruiting and retention, care, training, and conflict resolution in cooperation with SFL’s human resource department.
5. Develop field operations policy and ensure compliance.
6. Develop international field leadership teams.
7. Develop and strengthen project management systems.
8. Travel to project sites.
9. Cooperate with program development staff (both HQ and field) to achieve well-designed, high-impact programs.
10. Identify problems in field performance and/or processes and work with field leadership to correct these problems.
11. Oversee the following functions at HQ: evaluate and approve requests from the field for procurement or shipping of items to the field; assign expenditures to correct account numbers for all project budget lines; establish and manage timing of program reports from the field, identifying problem areas to be followed-up by field leadership; manage work of program assistant; evaluate and manage all field narrative reports and reports to donors including weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting; and compile project summaries for the SFL annual report.
