Job Description:
Responsibilities: Supervise a team that will ensure corporate messaging and brand expectations of The Navigators is articulated to our audiences, both internal and external, in such a way as to enhance our corporate reputation and influence. Our internal audience includes the board, stakeholders, alumni, donors, Headquarters, Glen Eyrie staff, Field Staff, International Office and International Staff. Our external audience includes public, media and events. As a member of the National Leadership Team (NLT) represent the Communications Department to the Navigator leadership, field staff and the public by strategically articulating corporate messaging guidelines.

All communications must be clear, concise and include responsive dialog with all audiences. Possess the ability to understand corporate branding issues to ensure adherence to corporate brand guidelines. Monitor Navigator communications to ensure that central messaging and corporate branding are reflected, and respond appropriately when this is not the case. Develop, maintain, and utilize a crisis management plan to manage crisis situations. Serve as the main contact for media relations. Develop personal skills and capabilities through ongoing training classes. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in mass communications, journalism or related field required plus ten years experience in communications and/or business disciplines. A Master’s degree in communications, business or other related field preferred. Possess the ability to understand communication strategy and its implementation through print, audio, video and internet applications. Must be able to conceptualize and lead projects throughout the entire production process. Proven leadership abilities as a supervisor, manager or director within a Communications Department. Broad communication skills required in order to work effectively with Navigator leadership, staff and media. Possesses essential understanding of copyright and trademark laws. Needs working knowledge of design software and other appropriate software programs. Belief in and adherence to the Statement of Faith and the Mission of The Navigators.
