Job Description:
Title: Human Resources Assistant Reports To: Human Resources Manager
Grade: FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Position Summary: The Human Resources Assistant is responsible for the daily administrative functions of the Human Resources Department to promote its efficiency and effectiveness. In addition, this position also includes assisting with the recruitment and hiring process.

General Purpose: To help maintain the Human Resources Department with administrative support to help achieve its specific goals and contribute to the success of the overall mission and vision of Sandy Cove Ministries.

Necessary Qualifications:
¦ Maintains a consistent Christian testimony and actively pursues spiritual growth.
¦ Desires to fulfill mission statement to help people connect with God and each other…
¦ Minimum Associates Degree
¦ 1-3 years of HR experience
¦ Ability to maintain confidentiality and represent SCM in a positive, professional manner
internally and externally.
¦ Willingness to travel (<5%)

Position Responsibilities:
¦ Assist in recruitment and employee hiring process for year round and summer staff
¦ Answer phone calls and questions in relation to HR Department
¦ Maintain calendar and schedule appointments appropriately
¦ Coordinate tracking of employment applications
¦ Compile and send rejection letters/e-mails to candidates
¦ Conduct reference and background checks
¦ Conduct verification of employment (VOE) checks
¦ Send monthly employee evaluation reminders to department managers
¦ Help oversee the tracking of employee service awards
¦ Maintain personnel files in compliance with State of Maryland & Federal laws
¦ Create documents & reports as needed (i.e.-job descriptions, letters, memos, new forms)
¦ Assist in planning and execution of employee events
¦ Assist at camp and college recruitment fairs
¦ File, fax & copy documents as necessary
¦ Perform any other reasonable task assigned by Human Resources Manager

Essential Skills & Experience:
¦ Excellent telephone etiquette
¦ Excellent verbal/written communication skills
¦ Computer literate (Proficient in Microsoft Word & Excel)
¦ Detail oriented & strong organizational skills
¦ Ability and willingness to learn and use new skills

Non-Essential Qualifications:
Prior work experience in Camp & Conference Industry
PHR Certification
Prior experience working with Paychex software
