Food Service Worker

 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Be able to work quickly and concisely under pressure
  • Ensure storage of food in a proper and sanitary manner
  • Organize and assist in major cleaning of refrigerators, freezers, and cooking and serving equipment at the regularly scheduled intervals
  • Ensure daily tracking of food sales and inventory
  • Ensure daily cleaning and sterilization of all dishes, silverware, and cooking utensils, as well as surfaces and windows
  • Promote good public relations
  • Attend in-service meetings as scheduled by the General Manager(s)/Lead(s)
  • Proper utilization of leftovers as required
  • Maintain a constant sense of cost control
  • Adhere to all HACCP regulations for sanitation, food handling, and storage
  • Adhere to the uniform policy
  • Communicate with the Kitchen Manager daily to understand and properly prepare menu for the day
  • Serve food at proper portions as requested
  • Adjust thermostat controls to regulate temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, roasters, steam kettles, and all other cooking and serving equipment
  • Measure ingredients according to standardized recipes using scales and other preparation equipment to prepare entrees, soups, salads, sandwiches, desserts, sauces, and other food items
  • Fry, grill and steam meats, vegetables, and other foods
  • Observe and test food being cooked by tasting, smelling, and taking temperature to assure it is cooked
  • Stock condiments and set up breakfast and lunch areas
  • Set up and tear down equipment as needed
  • Drive to and from designated locations periodically
  • Drive towing a food concession trailer
  • May wash, peel, cut, and shred vegetables and fruits to prepare them for use
  • Other related duties as assigned

MUST BE ABLE TO:

  • Possess valid driver license with proof of clean driving record for last 5 years (can be obtained thru local DMV)—Prior to start of employment
  • Skillfully use hand tools or machines needed for your work
  • Read instructions for items to be made
  • Use math for portion sizes & recipes
  • Work with client(s) with tact and diplomacy
  • MUST HAVE excellent customer service skills (regular training will be provided)
  • Perform work that is routine and organized
  • Work flexible hours including some weekends as needed

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Lifting up to fifty (50) pounds unassisted and more with assistance; frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to fifty (50) pounds
  • Reaching, handling, seeing, standing, walking
  • Temperature changes: variations in temperature, which are sufficiently marked and abrupt to cause noticeable bodily reactions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Foodservice Sanitation Certificate as needed
  • High School diploma/GED

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • This is a contracted position (Contractor is responsible for their own payroll taxes)
  • Pay is based on experience
