Olympia Union Gospel Mission

Dental Clinic Manager

Olympia Union Gospel Mission
Olympia, Washington, United States

Categories: Health Care
Job Type: Full-Time

Job Description:

Summary: The Olympia Union Gospel Mission is a Christian Rescue Ministry serving low income and homeless individuals. The Mission owns and operates a new three chair, no-fee, dental clinic providing emergent dental treatment to adults with a household income at or below 200% of the Federal poverty level and residing in Thurston, Mason or Grays Harbor Counties. Priority is given to patients with infection and pain, diabetics and pregnant women. All treatments are performed by volunteer dental providers.

This is a working management position that is ideal for an experienced RDA that enjoys clinical problem solving, has the ability to work somewhat autonomously and make preliminary diagnosis from oral examination, X-Rays and clinical and physical history. Evaluating medication history for the impact on the safety of dental procedures and as needed obtaining medical records from treating physician offices is a necessary component of the job. The RDA then compiles the information and schedules the patient with the dentist who is most comfortable performing the required dental assessment and treatment.

The Manager will need to perform some chair side assisting and set up for dental hygienists, sterilization of instruments, etc.

The successful candidate will excel at managing in a team environment with another RDA and part time front desk personnel. Patients can be difficult at times in this environment and the ability to not take comments personally is a must. Skill at telephone screening is a valuable because “no-fee” dental treatment does attract people who will defraud the system if given the opportunity.

Qualifications: (1) Believer growing in faith through regular fellowship. (2) RDA, experienced in extractions / oral surgery as well as restorative dental care. (3) Five years, or more, experience as a Dental Assistant with 3, or more years of clinic management experience.
