Position Profile

Manager for SIM Sebring Retirement Village

 

The Sebring Retirement Village is a nonprofit missionary retirement community for retired SIM missionaries and retired missionaries from other mission organizations (sister missions). Since 1966 Sebring Retirement Village has provided modest, affordable homes for retired SIM missionaries. The Village administration takes as its foremost task the care and wellbeing of the retirement community.  In 2006 we opened Sebring Retirement Village to sister missionaries. The residents have been blessed to experience the community of missionaries from around the world.

Sebring Retirement Village is nestled among orange groves on 40 scenic acres of land in Sebring, FL. A chapel for prayer meetings and conferences graces a small peninsula on the lake. A swimming pool, exercise room and safe areas for walking and bicycling help residents stay active. The Village offers 103 housing units of various types and layouts, including individual homes, duplexes and apartments. There is also an assisted living facility with 15 beds. The manager of Sebring Retirement Village provides oversight and leadership of all aspects of the Village.

Primary Responsibilities include:

  • Oversees all aspects of operation of the retirement village
  • Supervises three department heads (assisted living facility, medical, facilities)

Reports to:

  • SIM USA Deputy Director, SIM USA HQ in Charlotte, NC

 

Some of the tasks of the Sebring manager include:

  • Oversee medical department, assisted living facility (Lodge) and facilities department
  • Coordinate staff
  • Oversee hiring employed staff
  • Provide financial counsel to residents if needed
  • Manage funeral arrangements of Village residents
  • Oversee spiritual and social activities
  • Represent Village on committees (local and headquarters)
  • Plan future development of the Village
  • Act as liaison between local community and SIM membership
  • Maintains communication with SIM Headquarters in Charlotte, NC

 

Qualifications include:

  • Proven team leader
  • Good administrative skills
  • Relate well to the elderly
  • Ability to supervise multiple phases of ministry simultaneously
  • Strong communicator
  • Financial expertise
  • Good sense of humor

 

Experience and Education:

College

Minimum of five years in supervisor/managerial position – preferably more

Experience leading a team

Literacy with balance sheets and budgeting

Computer skills

Physical Requirements:

Good general health

Able to manage stress

  • Minister to SIM missionaries, staff, ministry partners, prayer partners, local churches, and donors through prayer, words of encouragement, and acts of service

 

Compensation:

  • Raises salary as a faith-supported missionary (or self-supporting volunteer)
