Position Summary:

The Children’s Pastor will oversee all children activities of the church, such as Children’s church, Wednesday night children’s activities, and all nursery functions. He is responsible for strategizing, planning and implementing ministry programs that correlate with the church’s overall vision. The children’s pastor must develop a strong children’s ministry team through recruiting, training, inspiring, motivating, and supporting volunteers and leaders.


Duties and Responsibilities:

Daily Functions:

  • Oversee, plan, and coordinate all aspects of the Children’s ministry including, but not limited to Sunday Children’s Church, Wednesday Night Children’s Church, and Special events for both locations
  • Plan children’s leadership retreat, conferences, and/or church shadow
  • Create and effectively manage disbursement of funds for supplies and projects within the budgetary guidelines
  • Recruit, Train, maintain, and involve new children’s and nursery  ministry volunteers
  • Oversee nursery coordinators
  • Coordinate and maintain schedules for nursery workers and classroom teachers for children
  • Assist with marketing plan for nursery and children
  • Responsible for insuring that food for nursery and children’s is ordered and/or stocked for Sunday’s and Wednesday’s
  • Communicate regularly with parents to discuss any changes or concerns and provide them with tools needed for spiritual enrichment
  • Be available to counsel and pray with children and parents
  • Keep Department Head informed of any issues or conflicts within the children’s ministry
  • Participate in nursery and children’s ministry meetings.
  • Develop and foster relationships within the community including regular visits to elementary schools in the area
  • Record and maintain attendance for children, volunteers, and ministry staff; communicate information with Executive Pastor
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Job Specifications and Requirements:

  • Strong Organizational and Interpersonal/communication skills; work independently and flexible in a changing environment
  • Team-oriented with an upbeat/positive personality
  • Regular mediation, personal studying, and research is required
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while paying attention to detail
  • Attend training seminars and sessions as required to improve skills as sound technician
  • Attend monthly staff meetings, minister meetings, and conferences when applicable
  • Ability to think quickly and react/trouble-shoot properly in high stress situations

Software Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of Basecamp 3 preferred
