Job Type: Full-Time

Job Description:

Boys and Girls Country is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit comprehensive residential care program for children, located just outside Houston.  For over four decades, the organization has been successful in its mission to change the lives of children from families in crisis by nurturing them and raising them to become self-sustaining and contributing adults.  Boys and Girls Country meets every child’s physical, emotional, educational, social, and spiritual needs in a consistent and loving way as it provides a warm, family-like Christian atmosphere where children have the opportunity to grow up safe and secure and to develop to their full potential.

Since its founding, a total of 1,403 children have found a home at Boys and Girls Country. It provides a home and family to over 100 children and young adults each year who have come from circumstances that limit their ability to succeed. The children attend church, do homework, prepare meals, and do chores together.  Boys and Girls Country guides them through educational milestones, supports them emotionally as they navigate life’s challenges, holds them accountable to their peers and the greater community, and encourages them to dream big and achieve goals. Unlike other group living programs, the kids never age out of the program.

In 2016, Boys and Girls Country is celebrating 45 years of providing a home for children whose families are in crisis. As a measure of their commitment to furthering the impact they are having on kids, the Board and leadership have launched a capital campaign to rebuild all 11 cottages on the main campus.  The Board broke ground on the first cottage last Spring.  The remaining cottages will be built over the next 5 years.  To date, Boys and Girls Country has secured funding for 6 cottages, all by private donations. The next Executive Director will have the opportunity to continue this transformative effort to the physical infrastructure of the main campus.

We seek an accomplished executive leader, who is a person of faith, with a strong service and business orientation whose interpersonal skills have developed productive relationships with both internal and external constituents, and whose commitment to best practice management and business skill development has been a distinguishing factor in the candidate’s career successes.

Proven leadership in an organization with a demonstrated ability to bring passion, vision, direction, business discipline and inspiration is required.  We seek candidates with a successful history of leadership in residential program environments similar to Boys and Girls Country.  This individual is an innovative and strategic thinker, consultative leader and an energetic problem-solver. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate an achievement record of leading successful organizations to new levels of accomplishment, and have the interest, successful track record and/or capability to expand private fundraising.

A minimum of ten (10) years of appropriate and transferrable nonprofit experience, preferably in child residential care, is required. A Bachelors Degree is required, and a Masters Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or other related field, is preferred. The new Executive Director must have or obtain a Child-Care Administrator License from the Texas Department of Human Services and s/he must live on the campus of the facility per State regulation.  Boys and Girls Country provides the Executive Director with a private home residence on the campus of the College and Career Program.
