Boys and Girls Country is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit comprehensive residential care program for children, located just outside Houston. For over four decades, the organization has been successful in its mission to change the lives of children from families
in crisis by nurturing them and raising them to become self-sustaining and contributing adults. Boys and Girls Country meets every child’s physical, emotional, educational, social, and spiritual needs in a consistent and loving way as it provides a warm,
family-like Christian atmosphere where children have the opportunity to grow up safe and secure and to develop to their full potential.
Since its founding, a total of 1,403 children have found a home at Boys and Girls Country. It provides a home and family to over 100 children and young adults each year who have come from circumstances that limit their ability to succeed. The children attend
church, do homework, prepare meals, and do chores together. Boys and Girls Country guides them through educational milestones, supports them emotionally as they navigate life’s challenges, holds them accountable to their peers and the greater community, and
encourages them to dream big and achieve goals. Unlike other group living programs, the kids never age out of the program.
In 2016, Boys and Girls Country is celebrating 45 years of providing a home for children whose families are in crisis. As a measure of their commitment to furthering the impact they are having on kids, the Board and leadership have launched a capital campaign
to rebuild all 11 cottages on the main campus. The Board broke ground on the first cottage last Spring. The remaining cottages will be built over the next 5 years. To date, Boys and Girls Country has secured funding for 6 cottages, all by private donations.
The next Executive Director will have the opportunity to continue this transformative effort to the physical infrastructure of the main campus.
