Salem Media Group is looking for a Full-Time Local Sales Manager for our media cluster in Columbus, Ohio. This person will be expected to meet and exceed personal sales quotas as well as oversee all aspects of meeting and exceeding local sales objectives for Salem Media of Ohio, Inc. The entire Columbus media group includes two radio stations: AM880 WRFD, a Christian Teach and Talk station, and WTOH, 98.9FM The Answer, Columbus’ newest News Talk station. This position reports directly to the General Manager.


All broadcast media is enhanced by strong non-traditional revenue (NTR) including managing events and digital assets, web displays, video, database, e-blasts, newsletters, social media and mobile advertising. We are looking for an energetic team leader that will recruit, hire, manage, and train an advertising sales team. Five plus (5+) years in media Sales Management is preferred, experience with radio and NTR is also preferred. A track record in strong sales growth during challenging economic times is important. The ability to accurately report pending business, and achieving monthly/quarterly goals is critical.



  • Meet and exceed personal sales quotas.
  • Meet and exceed sales quotas for team.
  • Recruit, hire, lead, and train staff members on the sales team.
  • Assist your team in finding, developing, and selling new local spot and program accounts for the radio station.
  • Personally sell and lead your team to sell multi-media advertising plans incorporating spot, web, streaming, print, and other digital media.
  • Assist teammates with account development to maximize billing from each account.
  • Maintain impeccable standards for advertiser service.
  • Oversee collecting amounts due from advertisers in conjunction with the business department.
  • Provide timely and accurate projections/forecast reports.
  • Prepare timely and accurate expense reports.
  • Maintain sales expenses at or below budget
  • Monitor broadcast agreements for accuracy
  • Develop relationships deep in the advertiser’s organization.
