Serving California seeks a strategic relationship-builder with executive presence as its next President. Founded by B. Wayne Hughes Jr. in 2013, Serving California is a Christian faith-based foundation committed to the possibility of building a community of empathy for those who are struggling and providing them with resources to transcend their situations. To date Serving California has invested over $5 million in organizations providing transformational programs, with special emphasis on ex-offenders who want to rebuild their lives, crime victims and veterans in need. Through their mission, Serving California funds novel and innovative Christian faith-based programs that improve the lives of people in need. Through the generosity of B. Wayne Hughes Jr. and the Board, Serving California doubles every dollar donated to exponentially increase the impact of the programs they support.

 

Reporting to the Chair of the Board, the President will be responsible for the overall successful operation and performance of Serving California. He/She will work to fulfill the vision, leadership, strategic direction, management, and coordination of all Serving California activities and will be charged with charting the course for and leading all future growth. This will include elevating the organization’s presence and recognition both locally and nationally, working with providers to expand and enhance programming, assessing current procedures and organizational structure, collaborating with partner organizations, developing relationships internally and externally, providing mentoring and leadership to staff, and fundraising. Leading candidates will be servant leaders who embrace the mission and values of Serving California and invest themselves in and feel a kinship with the vision of the Board. The President will be a partnership builder who will convene people, organizations and communities around the initiatives of Serving California. Successful fundraising experience or the potential for fundraising is strongly preferred. Although the successful candidate may have solid experience in the nonprofit community, Serving California encourages individuals from other sectors and with different experiences to apply. A Bachelor’s degree is required; an advanced degree is preferred.
