Who we are
MicroTools was started in 1988 in the basement of one of the founders. We provide embedded systems design expertise (both HW and SW) to startups and established Fortune 500 companies. We have grown slowly but steadily by connecting with select clients and developing long term relationships with them.
We provide a unique environment for the employees because of the variety of projects they get to work on. We designed the electronics and the software for a hospital bed that moves the patient from bed to wheel chair and back with a push of a button. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7AXEFOjayzg) We have designed an implanted medical device that will revolutionize the lives of 1000’s of patients world-wide (in 2016 it will enter first-in-human trials). We have designed solar panel monitoring equipment (http://locusenergy.com/), time and attendance devices with biometric identification, machine controls that control orbital welders and glass container machines, portable oxygen concentrators, induction cook-tops, and many others.
All of this is done while attempting to build good community among the co-workers. One worker even gave his kidney to another who was suffering from kidney failure. We regularly support one another both inside work and without. It is truly an environment unlike any other.
