Department: Public Relations

Summary Description
The Director of Public Relations (DPR) plans, coordinates, organizes, leads and monitors all aspects of media events, Vision Trips, VIP events (including security), and hospitality.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (include but not limited to)

The DPR works with the all parties involved to coordinate Vision trips and VIP visits
The DPR is responsible for the process of identifying potiential hosts to host the ship visits
The DPR serves as a personal guide as needed for VIPs and/or Vision Trip participants
The DPR serves as the main point of contact for VIP & Vision Trip attendees before and after a visit
The DPR is responsible for direct supervision of the Hospitality department, and will conduct annual reviews of direct reports on their performance and achievement of objectives
Develop an annual budget plan for each program and special project and monitor effectiveness to plan
Recruit, train, evaluate, and supervise qualified crew
Collaborate with all related and others as needed - in creating systems, initiatives and collateral materials that are strategically aligned both internally and externally
Keep informed of developments in the field of Public Relations and use this information to help the organization operate with initiative and innovation
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor

Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Requirements)
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Excellent organizational and management skills are essential
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are also essential
Must have a working knowledge of the Internet, email, Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel and Outlook, and have an understanding of contact management software
A Bachelor's Degree is desired; a graduate degree (MBA preferred) and/or graduate level coursework are also desirable; or equivalent combination of education and experience
