The System Architect/Developer is responsible for providing and managing all IS services for the ministry. This includes the design, development, and implementation of information architectures and applications that automate specific ministry processes. The job functions are as follows:
Partner with leadership team to define and understand information and technology needs of the ministry. Understand issues and risks related to architecture, systems, programs, and applications.
Develop overall technology strategy and tactical plans in support of the ministrys programs and initiatives. Ensures implementation of the plans.
Create architectures that model requirements and processes. Estimate resources required to transfer requirements to production.
Convert requirements into computer code including system and human interfaces. Consult with users to plan, script, and execute tests. Debug programs. Provide application support to the users.
Document application and program logic, tests, changes, and operating procedures.
Evaluate IT services and explore new technologies for potential implementation. Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with outside third-party vendors.
Lead the team comprised of this position and the Systems/Network Administrator.
Train end users and assists other team members as required.
Bachelors degree in IS or related field and at least 5 years experience.
Demonstrated success developing strategic technology plans. Ability to think strategically, coupled with the ability to translate goals and ideas into effective implementation.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate responsibilities and goals.
Knowledge of Web application, application integration, storage, and business continuity architectures.
Expertise in web programming and one or more object-oriented languages. Ability to code and test proprietary applications.
Experience with databases, including SQL.
