Position Title: Executive Director

Scope: The Executive Director reports directly to the Board of Directors and works in conjunction with other directors in the organization.

Position Description:
The Executive Director will be responsible for planning, developing, implementing and evaluating programs designed to accomplish the mission of Church Health Services (CHS) which includes health clinics for the medically underserved, health ministries for area congregations and a special health message for all. The Director will also be involved in preparing CHS to serve as a national model for health and healing.

Planning and Leadership Objectives:
Monitor and encourage the development and accomplishment of short, midterm, and long term goals of the CHS Masterplan and provide regular reports to the Board of Directors.
Create annual financial plan for Board approval.
Provide leadership to enable others to implement and monitor all organizational plans.
Operationalize and support the organizational vision.
Facilitate regular staff meetings

Public Relations and Fund Development Objectives:
Maintain an active and visible presence in the Dodge County area with the goal of building awareness of the organization.
Build and nurture relationships with health care providers/organizations, churches, civic, corporate, education, community, and philanthropic leaders, and with the media. (i.e.; presentations, grant applications )
Work with the fundraising committee to provide education, training, materials and support for the Board and other volunteers in their fund-development efforts.
Develop and maintain productive relationships with prospective donors and supporters.

Organizational Management Objectives:
Governance support
Attend each Board of Directors meeting, Executive Committee and Nominating Committee meetings, and other Board Committee meetings as necessary. Work with Board president to develop Board and Executive committee agendas
Ensure that appropriate staff support is available for each committee.
Partner with Board leadership and the Nominating Committee to plan and facilitate Board recruitment, orientation, training and ongoing education.
Keep the Board informed of the organizations activities through regular written reports.





Operations and Programs
Provide for the management and supervision of programs and operations of the organization (clinic, congregation and community health message)
Provide an annual summary of services/activities

Financial Management
Work with the Treasurer/ bookkeeper and executive committee to develop annual financial plan for the Boards approval.
Account for all funds received and disbursed by the organization, and serve as custodian of all financial instruments and papers.
Work with bookkeeper to accurately maintain and produce regular reports from all financial and fund development records. Provide monthly reports to the Board/Executive committee.

Personnel
Present, with the annual financial plan and budget, staffing requirements and recommendations for additions or changes needed to meet the organizations mission and Masterplan.
Responsible for issues of employee selection, development, and evaluation within the framework of the approved budget while seeking counsel of the Personnel Management Team as necessary.
Develop leadership skills among staff members, supporting their involvement in activities where they will have the opportunity to network with other organizations, donors, and community leaders.

Facilities
Coordinate all equipment purchases and maintenance.
Provide to the Board an annual facility review, recommendations for improvements, expansions, including long-range plans or other changes as necessary.
Work with facility coordinator and Trinity Methodist trustees to ensure timely completion of facility improvements.

Skills and Characteristics
Have an understanding of and passion for Church Health Services vision and vision
Affirm and demonstrate a mature faith in Christ
Bachelors degree required, masters degree preferred.
Demonstrate two to three years management experience in business or health care setting preferred.
Demonstrate capability to partner with and support non-profit boards and organizations.
Demonstrate the ability to represent an organization to multiple constituencies.
Demonstrate ability to set and achieve or exceed goals and meet deadlines.
Understand the faith & health connection
Be able to plan, prioritize and organize.
Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency with computer applications
Show enthusiasm, drive, motivational ability and willingness to take calculated risks.
Willingness to receive formal training in nonprofit management as well as the topic of "faith and health".
