Job Description:
DCO is directly responsibile to the Senior Pastor and is charged with the day to day management of all congregational and Church business of an operational nature. DCO manages and directs the work of others but is also expected to contribute significantly as a subject matter expert as needed. DCO interacts on a daily basis with Church Executive Staff and works in unity with and is accountable to Church Council, PPRC, Finance, & Trustees in execution of their assigned responsibilities. DCO supports Senior Pastor, supervises Executive Staff in all matters related to the sound stewardship of the financial, physical property, human resources and general and administrative matters of the church providing the Executive staff operational guidance in the execution of their duties. DCO defers to Senior Pastor those areas of primary responsibility requiring leadership and direction of a spiritual nature.

Must be a member in good standing at a Bible based, Christian church and grounded by their Christian faith. Position requires of the incumbent dependability, flexibility and professionalism in the execution of their dutes. Must demonstrate a high degree of integrity and character on and off the job and faithfully maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive matters. Excellent judgement, sound decision making and outstanding organizational and managerial skills are needed to successfully execute the responsibilities of the DCO. Serves as CFO. Responsible for all aspects of the physical resources owned and/or operated by SHUMC. Oversee procurement of equipment and supplies. Supervises and directs those employees or contractors responsible for building and equipment maintenance, security, ground upkeep and custodial care. Holds authority to negotiate contract and to responsibly enter into obligations on behalf of the Church in the execution of their job responsibilities. Oversee and administer all human resource related functions for the Church including but not limited to staffing, performance mgt, employee relations, payroll compensation & benefits, training & development.
